Allegedly Among Handful of Third Parties with New Tech
The website Gameolosophy, which claims a pretty good track record of late with breaking Nintendo news, is citing several reliable sources in claiming that Sega, among other key third party developers, already have their hands on the developer kit for the next Nintendo console.
The other third parties cited in the story are Sega, Square Enix, Capcom, EA, Take Two, and Namco, among others. The article claims all mentioned have at least one game in development for the next system.
But before you get excited about seeing Sonic Generations or anything like that on the yet to be revealed console, the article also states Nintendo will focus on the 3DS both at E3 in a month and a half, and in the coming Holiday season…making any sort of system launch in 2011 less likely.
We’ll keep this as rumor for now, though with multiple reports at least affirming the existence of a new Nintendo console, it may not be a matter of if the above is confirmed, but when.

This news isnt that new is it? It would be smart to let them at least tinker with it. It takes practice to get used to console operations. Compare mario galaxy 1 and 2, compare ratchet and clank tools of destruction with crack in time, dead rising 1 and 2. Every sequel was better (IMO) at least graphically, but also mechanically. When brand new to a system its hard to really tell what limits you can push with it. Heck, even though i like secret rings more than black knight, you can see a huge jump in quality at least in black knight. Sega can get used to the new console so we can see sonic shine and glimmer!
Storybook Story + Colors Gameplay in HD
That is all
While we won’t get the new N until the 2012 Holiday season, it’s nice to know that Sega’s already working on something for it.
I still wonder, what would the next Storybook that Sonic will conquer? Sonic and the… umm.. Oh!! Sonic and the great white Moby Dick?? (Sorry, I ust had to say it!) *gets shot*
The rest of he fan base: DON’T GIVE SEGA ANY IDEAS!!
@thewafflefactory
While i DO agree with what you’re saying, the comparison isn’t exactly a good one.
only because super mario galaxy 1 was made way after the wii was already released, so the developers already had enough time to practice on the system.
I guess a good comparison could be Red Steel to Red Steel 2…… though i haven’t played either so i really wouldn’t know XD
@Master Shake:
Sonic Colors was what replaced the next storybook Sonic after SatBK didn’t sell so well.
But yeah, I’m not surprised if they’re making launch titles for it already.
@Doctor Eggman
Actually the only reason why I’m saying if there could be another Sonic storybook game, is because I think a third and final entry in the series would be fitting. Just two storybook games? Thats not really a series.. i mean it it is.. kinda! but, then again that may not hapen anyway since the Wii is ending soon and project cafe (Wii 2) will be stepping upto plate. eh ya never know!
Nintendo hasn’t been too supportive with third party developers. This was addressed by a rep at a press conference, and he said that they hope to change that. So I’m not surprised that dev kits are already in the hands of developers.
It doesn’t matter if it debuts at E3 and doesn’t make it in the year, the 3DS was the same way
the sonic 2012 the nextgen 2 or sonic the hedgehog 2 (2012) or perhaps i could be wrong but its not a storybook or colors or unleashed, but the nextgen gaming coming soon for nextgen big N but for the name of the next console is not wii2 but something to do with big step of graphics more than ps3 or 360 that is something is beyond the pc expectation power and i am certain this is huge than N64 first announce the first 64bit console in the past, so my opinion its like 1996 all over again the n512 based on 512-bit gpu i was hoping for but i could be all wrong. On the ps4 will become the best console in history again like ps2 since ps3 was the success like ps1 so if i remember right the success of 360 is like the success of the genesis era but the next gen console would be the failure era of the sega dreamcast again
