Sonic Fan Film Head Responds to Kuta Accusations
They talked to Richard Kuta after he walked away from his animated Sonic fan film project, so it’s only appropriate that the crew behind Destroy All Slackers talk to the head of the active Sonic fan film project, Eddie Lebron.
In the very casual Q&A, Lebron explains how getting Jaleel White for the film “wasn’t as difficult as most people would think,” and the joy it was to work with the former Sonic voice artist.
Lebron also talks about Richard Kuta and remarks made on the previous DAS podcast, which implied that Lebron in effect stole Kuta’s idea for a fan film. Lebron says that, contrary to claims Kuta made, that the two didn’t speak until January 2009, and not before Lebron’s Mega Man fan film was conceived. Lebron also says his contact was communication with Kuta was spotty between 2009 and mid-2010. Interesting to note, Lebron says he hadn’t committed to the Sonic fan film until right before the 2010 ScrewAttack gaming convention last July. Lebron also says Kuta and his supporters initially supported Lebron’s work until White was announced to be a part of the project.
There are other details Lebron and producer Dave Horowitz reveal about the film and its future, which you can learn in the podcast by clicking here and looking for Episode 20.

Slow news day… (Come on SEGA, show us screenshots of other zones in Sonic Generations)
(EDIT – Inflammatory -T)
Keep doing what you’re doing, Lebron, the movie’s looking great.
I would’ve preferred someone besides J.White, to be honest.

So about that there Sonic Generations?
So, about that Sonic Generations. Looks pretty bitchin’, mirite?
I like how Eddie pointed out that the main reasons for Kuta’s film not doing well was because of too high expectations and he has no experience in film.
I KNOW that Kuta initially supported Lebron’s work, because I saw him post as such… but news that Kuta is now opposing it doesn’t surprise me.
Hey, Tristan. I could have sworn that animosity I and Rich were beginning to feel towards his project was a thing of the past. In fact, I’m rather intrigued to see what he does now, despite my gut feeling that it won’t be my ideal Sonic film.
Get your facts straight. What was a month ago isn’t relevant now. Although I am still slightly envious of his getting Jalleel on the project.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TAFG11qpes anyone see the trailer?
@SA3 2011 Sega should keep at least 5-6 levels/action stages/zones secret and let the buyers find out when they play.
That was a long nearly 2 hour long interview, very interesting =3
