Sega Continues Wave of Merch Auctions, Part of Play for Japan
With so much Dreamcast apparel being sold for hundreds of dollars, it’s about time we see how much an actual Dreamcast can fetch for charity.
That is exactly what Sega is doing in its latest round of Ebay auctions that are a part of the Play for Japan initiative. On the auction block for the next four and a half days is The Ultimate Dreamcast Package, which includes a limited edition console that includes 12 games, broadband adapter, 3 additional blue controllers, a VMU, a 4x Memory Card, a Keyboard, Mouse, and a Racing Wheel. Also part of the deal is a VMU belt strap, promo watch, and keychain; the first two were only available in Japan.
As always, 100 percent of the proceeds benefits the American Red Cross, and in turn will benefit those displaced by last month’s earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster in Japan.
Already, the top bid on this item has eclipsed the $500 level. If that’s too rich for your blood, you may want to consider other items Sega is auctioning off, including a Shadow the Hedgehog skinned GameCube console, and a copy of Shenmue autographed by Yu Suzuki.
The entire Play for Japan initiative has thus far raised over $100,000 for Japan relief.
