Does Sega have Something Special Lined Up Soon?
We may be playing at least a portion of Sonic Generations sooner than the Holidays. There was late word today from multiple news sources and the multiple news tipsters that E-Mailed us, the Australian government’s OFLC rated a multi-platform demo release of Sonic Generations just today.
Because Sega has made clear the full product won’t be out until the Holidays, it makes such an early rating peculiar, especially since a separate rating doesn’t exist for the full game. But given how the game’s Green Hill Zone looks complete in existing videos and previews, it may also mean Sega is almost ready to release the presumed first stage of the game for public review.
With E3 a month away, and Sonic’s 20th anniversary only a couple weeks after, it would be a pleasant surprise to see Sega afford a first look at this title to its fans. Any possible early release would certainly be welcome news upon the fandom; as some have already pointed out, it was something not done this far out for previous highly hyped titles like Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I, which had a September demo release. Some sources suggest a tie-in with another Sega game or even a standalone paid product is possible from this; both options seem unlikely right now, though no one will deny Sega may be taking a risk with a digital release, given how Sonic 4 leaked early.

tjthefox: Other than the 4th of July (which isn’t a shopping Holiday), there are no other legit Holidays during the Summer. You have to believe it’ll be released during the Holiday shopping season at the end of the year, when Sega can maximize their sales.

You mean you hope the PSN outrage ends before the demo’s release so you can play it. If the demo comes out before the PSN outrage is over, then when the PSN outrage is over the demo will automatically be out already anyways. =P
Well, you not the only one who got plans for Sonic. I made one as a school project thanks to my floral teacher, Mrs.Burris. The project I have to work on is the 20th Anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog party project because of this year. I named the food and drinks after things from the series, I put Crush 40 there, and I took the party placed at San Fransico, CA. I did that for my project and I wish the one I made up be real. I also did pronouced that Sega would show us new things from Sonic Generations and Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Games. I did metioned the fans will be herefor the party to celebrate Sonic’s best party ever.

Yeah, I agree with Ryan. If this is a demo they’re planning on releasing anytime before the holidays (Nov./Dec. is quite a ways off for a demo to be rated this soon) that would be the ideal time to do it.
Of course, this could wind up like Sonic Adventure XBLA, in which it was rated months before it was actually released/announced.

@Lucas Hinz, Johhny Gioli, the singer of Crush 40 said they were doing a song for an upcoming Sonic Game, so it’s very possible Crush 40 will be doing a song for this game. Besides the game is a mix of modern an classic elements, so it wouldn’t be too out of place.
I wonder if SEGA will reveal Sonic 4 episode 2 at E3…. or release a demo.

@tjthefox Every time a gaming company has said “Holiday Release”, they mean during the Christmas season so that they will get more sales. How would releasing it in the summer help them? It’ll hurt them more due to rushing the game.

Exactly. That’s why I said what I said. If The demo doesn’t come out til after the outrage then that could be quite some time for now if the outrage lasts a long time.
But if they release the demo before the outrage is over, then as soon as the outrage is over you can immediately play it.
If the demo comes out sooner, then you hope the outrage ends before it comes out, cuz that’d mean the outrage would end soon and you’d get to play it sooner. =)

Its a accurate remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 on megadrive, using a real Sonic, not a stupid sackbot, I’m currently just recolouring the sprites to the correct colours and my friend then needs to actually finish the Sonic so I can star building the zone. lol
Still.. DEMO!!!!!!! O______O it’ll help me decide which Sonic is still/always the best… and to me.. Classic is my favorite since he returns great level designs & platforming with nice speed and SPINDASH ^___^ I just hope in this game and future games Modern gets alot of platforming instead of a mere, 1 or 2 easy sections

everyone stop with the SA3 crap!!! SEGA has officially rebooted Sonic as of 2008 Unleashed, Modern Sonic is about speed… Sonic is about speed now… as far as things are going, Modern Sonic will stay with colours/Unleashed gameplay for a long time now, if the fans always asked for SA gameplay then SEGA might haved listened, but no. SA gameplay was unpopular at the time and the reviews were bad etc.
SO THEN, if Modern Sonic keeps the boost, no SA3 ^___^

As for the slide, I think the slide is necessary as it is his way of going under a tight squeeze at speeds. Personally, I think the somersault should at least be used in place of the slide for when merely walking, slide used when boosting, and spin dash to be used if you hold it down but not boosting, while the weird thing we saw in the vid be a spindash but while boosting (assuming Spindash, somersault and slide are all the same button) That’d make more sense, be easier, and give more moves to perform being less repetitive and more entertaining.
However I DOUBT they did that. D:< lol
As for platforming, I don't see the big deal. I get we don't want to just run and do nothing, but if platforming itself is not really fun. I don't get excited merely jumping onto a platform. Big deal. It needs to be a clever design, and personally I feel there are other mechanics that can be added that can be fun as well as platforming, and if they could just include all of them and mix it up then it'd be fun. Like grinding, it's KINDA a slow form slide-platforming, tho it was best in SA2. Sliding, quickstep, drift, wall-jump, homing attack, ring dash, spin dash, platforming, puzzles, time-racing, all that is fun, and could be more fun if they mixed it together creatively. It'd be a lot less boring than merely running and jumping on blocks and virtually harmless enemies or dashing through an empty level merely dodging dead ends occasionally, amirite? XP

I get that you want an SA3, but can you stop wishing for it to be this year or this Summer? It’s not likely and won’t happen and you’re saying it in a place where everyone is getting annoyed by it thus causing a crowd of ppl to rebel against the SA3 idea, which hurts your cause. This has nothing to do with SA3, it has to do with Generations. Mention SA3 in an appropriate place.

What’s wrong with wanting SA3? Just because one person doesn’t want to play SA3 doesn’t mean someone who wants SA3 has to go without. Let him hope for SA3 and possibly even get it and just go on about your business. XD I don’t go to people who want a new Mario Party game just cuz it doesn’t interest ME. XP lol

SEGA hasn’t “rebooted” the series, and Takashi already said SA3 was still a possiblity if fans showed they wanted it. So him showing he wants SA3 is warranted. I really don’t understand what is with people being so obsessed that they think they can tell other people what they can and can’t want. xD
Also, the Adventure series has a higher score than every game to be released afterwards to this day. The only games to score higher were the classics, and they’re pretty close.
And Sonic 4 had homing attack. They could’ve added boost but that’d be too much.
As for adapting to the Sonic Boost, you can do that even if they make SA3. Making SA3 doesn’t necessarily mean that all other styled Sonic games will never be seen again. Why not do both? XD The more the merrier. lol

But, sonic57289′s comments are always “ZOMG ZOMG SA3 WANT NAO COME ON SEGA MAKE EET FOR ME OR I WILL BE SAD FACE =(“. When you put it that way, I completely understand what you mean. I thought you were trying to tell him what he can and can’t want in the future like the way SOME people towards the idea of Sonic Adventure 3. (Like the people who say “I hope they don’t make a Sonic Adventure 3″ even tho it wouldn’t effect them if they did make it. lol)
And yeah, that’s why I responded to him letting him know it can get annoying to some people, particualrly when it’s off-topic to the article. (for me, it’s not annoying, but I do see it as annoying to others, but most of all I think ppl who want SA3 should at least be reasonable and stop expecting it THIS year. I do think we may see one eventually and without having to wait a whole decade even possibly, but not this year or next year. lol)

Last year SEGA did a contest for the 19th anniversary, and that was an off-number. This is 20th, big and special you know!? So maybe they’ll have some little non-game related event? o.o
