Can’t Get to LA?  For Now, Too Bad

In the melee of Thursday’s news of a community night in Los Angeles, in which Sonic Generations will be demoed publicly for the first time, we managed to get in a question about whether the show, called Sonic Boom, would go on the road.  It’s a question many who are geographically unable to attend the show–even if they had time to get tickets in the four hour window–have asked themselves.

For now, that’s not in the works.

“Sorry no, we only have the LA event planned for Sonic Boom,” said Sega Community Manager Julian Mehlfeld, who responded to a question we Tweeted about the prospects.

To be fair, the question may have been a tad specific; though it did ask if the event would come east “at some point,” it also did specifically cite the event as we know it, including the name Sonic Boom.  There are many ways to dance around the question, including bringing such an event east under a different name.

And then there’s this: For the UK crowd, Generations is now almost certain to show up at this year’s Summer of Sonic convention, so there will be a healthy European sampling.  And know that Sega staff have made trips to New York for playtests, the most recent of which occurred at the New York Comic Con, and at New York City’s Citi Pond.
