It’s Not M&S…May Not Be Generations, Either
This certainly has potential to put a wrench in all we’ve learned this week. The Spanish website Sonic Paradise is citing Spanish magazine Nintendo Acción who claim to have confirmed with Sega another Sonic title exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS–a “brand new exclusive product,” in the magazine’s words.
Nintendo Acción was very careful to exclude Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games as being the title in question. That doesn’t completely rule out a port of Sonic Generations being a candidate, but if it’s not that, it would be the “third” Sonic title this year that we’ve been waiting to hear more on for a while now.
The magazine did not provide any more details beyond that. The confusion should become clearer in time for E3, but we will keep you posted on anything more that we learn.

I hope they make a Wii version for SA3
SA3 for 3DS. that formula definitely would be better suited for it. No more HA’ing or jumping and not knowing exactly how far away the enemy or platform your aiming for was. and the behind the should view will be glorious if they add like a wind stream effect when you go down a slope or through a loop de loop. Oh the possibilities
I want SA3 a lot, but SEGA obviously doesn’t give two craps about the Adventure formula ever since Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. Same with their large library of characters. Otherwise, they’d be making a few other characters playable in these later years. (EXCEPTION: SATBK)

For one reason: Sega is pretty much done with the Adventure formula. Bad Camera Angles, and bad control.
Sonic Rush 3DS. It would be the third game in the series, and the number 3 is part of the handheld’s name.

Quit hyping a game that SEGA is incapable of creating. The Sonic series is taking a much more enjoyable path than those Adventure games, thanks.
Also, I hope SEGA lowers the amount of games they release for Sonic, it makes me concerned on quality, Great to have clarified that Generations has been in development for 2 years.

@AGBSONIC it would not be a port of SA2, because they pretty much made it clear that the game is a third sonic game. I’m presuming the third installment of sonic rush, since they were on the original ds handhelds.
i don’t want it to be sonic rush 3…. ESPECIALLY, if you only play as Sonic and Blaze…… what ever happened to the other characters >.>

Just because the first two original sonic rush games were on the DS doesn’t necessary mean there’s going to be third one. I think sega would want to take advantage of the 3D in the 3d using a 3d world rather than take the sonic rush route using a 2d perspective, especially when were going to be getting sonic 4 ep 2 and sonic generations which fill up that 2d side scrolling category. the only reason i posted it being SA3 is simply because it would make sense to revive it now like they did with sonic 4. The 3DS has made a huge leap in terms of what types of games are capable on it. and making a SA3 for 3ds would also please those who were clamoring for it for years. and saying SA3 happened in the form of Sonic 06 is invalid because it’s technically in the eyes of sega been erased from existence and sonic unleashed is just sonic unleashed regardless of it’s prototype or Japanese name. I don’t remember anyone ever bashing people when they wanted a sonic the hedgehog 4, so why should those who have waited almost just as long not be allowed to have a SA3? if and i mean IF this 3DS title proves to be SA3 I’m going to enjoy seeing the look on peoples faces who didn’t believe it was going to happen while also feel over joyed that there going to make the sonic adventure a trilogy.
…honestly, I’m not really sure about the current formula. The Adventure’s had their issues, yes, mostly with the alternate playstyles. I think the Unleashed/Colors formula can work… but there’s got to be more platforming in them. I also want to see OPTIONAL additional characters. Those are the main things I want. If they can add some of the better attributes from the Adventures to the Unleashed/Colors formula (such as more platforming, exploration, and characters [save for them being required]), I will never complain about said formula again.
At this time, though, I still prefer the Adventure formula to Unleashed/Colors. They got fast-paced gameplay down right, but slower-paced gameplay still sucks (so far… Generations may change that). I want REAL 3D gameplay, not just gimping it by including things like exploration and platforming all into 2D and leaving 3D as nothing but empty running sections. I also want optional characters that play just like Sonic with a couple of move differences, instead of all this “Sonic Solo” stuff we’ve been having recently. Seriously.
If Sonic 3DS can address that, I would love to see it. I hope its not just “Sonic Rush 3.” A sequel to Sonic Rush I would not mind, but add some variety is all I ask.

@sonikdude101: Not necessarily setting themselves up for disappointment. Sega would just need to give SA3 Colors-style gameplay with alternate styles that are actually fun to play. Sonic Rush 3? <3
Sonic Rush 3 came out last year and was pretty good even if it reused assets from a different game.
You guys, Sonic Colors on the DS is NOT Sonic rush 3! Just because a game is SIMILAR to another series in the franchise, doesn’t mean it’s the sequel. It’s like saying “Sonic Generations is Sonic 5 with Modern stages too” because Classic Sonic is in it.
Sonic cycle is for losers! U like the game or u don’t! Personally I think that sonic 06 was the only bad sonic game, and it’s story wasn’t even that bad.
@sonic52789: It may as well have been. Same graphics, same basic gameplay. Dude, Sonic Colors DS is Sonic Rush 3.
@Shan: I agree that the Sonic Cycle needs to die in a fire. However, Sonic 06 was not the only bad Sonic game (Drift 1 & 2, Sonic R is so bad that it’s actually good, Sonic Labyrinth, Shadow, Spinball, and to a degree 3D Blast).
Hopefully we’ll know something by next Saturday. I usually always get my new Nintendo Power on the 28th or 29th of the month.

@Sonic52789 what gave you the idea that I’m dising the fans? This is probably the first time I presented the sonic cycle if I can remember. And it’s not like that on every franchise. Other franchises don’t get a reviewer sued if he reviewed the game wrong, or curse at the company if they screw up one bit of gameplay of a video game. And yes you’re right about people liking and disliking, but re read my last post to see what I meant. You probably took it the wrong way. Yes people have opinions, but when I look up videos of my favorite blue little dude, I’m tired of people bitching about a little thing of the game, like green eyes or sonic not slowing down the way they want in sonic 4. Sonic is not allowed to come to a full stop now, according to the fans. You see it’s not a normal situation with sonic, then again it may sound immature of me posting this, but I had to reply to make it clear to you that I don’t mean to sound the way you heard me, or should I say read me. Back to the topic. Sonic is different from other fanbases. Because sega screwed up on games, yes they are terribly glitchy and fustraiting, it makes you wonder what the developers were thinking, at least for alot of the 3D games. Fans ask sega to make then something, sega makes them something, and they still continuesly bitch that sega is not doing it the right way. All sega needs to do it make Sonic’s eyes black again and then the game will be perfect. There is something wrong there obviously I am not going to say it. So for my closing of this comment; I guess I would consider my self independent in the fanbase. I enjoy both classic and modern games (modern, exept for all it’s issues) and that’s the story. If you have anything else to say I would love you to respect my thought and comment back nicely.

I’ll agree with you that there are a lot of fans that incessantly complain and/or make terrible suggestions, but don’t generalize everybody. Fact: next gen fans tend to be younger, while classic fans tend to be older (I’m not generalizing, it’s just statistics). As is natural, many classic fans are going to be experienced and be able to make more logical suggestions based on real issues that plague said games. The “BAWWWGREENEYES!” stereotype associated with them needs to be forgotten. I don’t think I’ve seen one fan say that and be serious about it. If they were, then they’re a very, very small minority.
So even though they may come off as rude or angry, it can’t be denied that many of the things they say are true. And let’s face it, it makes sense that one would be pissed if they had to bear witness to false promises.
