Another Handheld Edition in Development?
You may be itching to buy three versions of Sonic Generations at the end of the year, if a report that surfaced today is true.
The report is from a relatively unknown website, PSPgweber, and it claims to have learned of a tentative launch list for Sony’s Next Generation Portable device, known as NGP or PS Vita in some circles. Among the alleged titles launching with the system are Call of Duty, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, Mortal Kombat, Wipeout, and a port of Sonic Generations. The article also notes a PC port, which was mentioned in a now edited earnings presentation for parent company Sega Sammy Holdings.
A version tailored to the NGP isn’t totally out of the question, especially given how many other systems to this point Generations will be on, and given its Holiday release timetable–about the time the NGP itself will be released. Whether a NGP edition would operate in the same vein as the 3DS counterpart is another matter; one supports 3D effects, the other does not. So, if anything were to come of this, it would likely be a watered down port from the consoles. That aside, especially with no source cited on the story, it’s really tough to take this seriously from such a small outlet.
Anything can happen during next week’s E3 though, so although we’ll be sure to follow up on the matter, it’s in the Rumor area for now. Thanks to Woun for sending this in. If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking Send News Tips at the top of every page.

…… ohhh how i hate rumors…… E3 can’t come any slower >.>
Start digging deeper into unknown obscure sties and see what kind of BS rumors you can find instead of looking at Neogaf. Why didn’t you report on that BS Cafe launch list last week, Generations was on it and was confirmed to be grade A bull.
In the end, sonic generations in ps3/360 and 3DS.
LOL
Sonical: There’s the matter of, at this point, Cafe launching in 2012. With NGP or whatever it’s called still on track to launch at the end of the year, this seems a touch more feasible.
I do think there’s a better chance of the PC port holding weight than this, though.

I’m to lazy to pull out that one office seen.
The PC port has more weight because it was actually on that financial report with the 3DS version. This wasn’t. That leaked game list looks more like fanboy wishes to me.
Thank you. Funny, I just watched an NGP trailer. If it is released, it will probably be the same as the PS3 version.
the fuck is an NGP?
BRB, pre-ordering PSP2
and no, not just for Sonic. That’s icing on the cake that’s possibly a lie.
If there is a Sonic Generations coming to the PC then SEGA should be very aware that people will pirate the game like if there is no tomorrow. However, adding a 20th Sonic game to PC will be a really nice gesture considering that there aren’t many sonic titles on PC that are pure adventure.
NGP is the PSP2 or the PSVita ( PlayStationLife )
It makes sense since the NGP is bieng releades this year, and The Sonic Rivals Series was on the PSP, so…
Yes, please.
Hopefully it’s a complete/near port of the console versions.
Not that anyone cares, but i found some new screenshots:

“Whether a NGP edition would operation in the same vein as the 3DS counterpart is another matter; one supports 3D effects, the other does not.”
“operation”? Typo, Tristan?
I think they should just keep Generations on 360,PS3 & 3DS adding more ports seem kinda of dumb I’d like to see a oringal Sonic game for the NGP through
@darkgomugomu NGP = New Generation PSP a.k.a PSP2
whats a ngp
Oh this better be true, Sonic Generations would look fantastic on NGP.
What’s the graphics like on the NGP? Well, that actually might not matter because if this is true then it will be like the3DS version… U know cuz of it bieng a handheld and having the Rivals series…
@ Shan the hedgehog:
It’s said to be almost as powerful as a PS3 in terms of graphics, and from what I’ve seen, it seems to hold up to what it says. So obviously it has much more graphical power than the 3DS. If it turns out that there is an NGP version of Generations, than it might look identical to the PS3 and 360 versions of the game, though possibly with slightly watered down graphics.
Here’s a demonstration of the NGP:
>looks at the math buying both the 360 and PS3 versions to be a collector
>+3DS and 3DS version of Sonic Generations
> + NGP and NGP version of Sonic Generations (?)
Holy fuck my wallet is going to hate me.
Hmmm well if this is true, they would be smart enough to put a unique set of levels in each port =P but damn, that’s gonna be alot of money for one game XD
; one supports 3D effects, the other does not
The 3DS version is all sidescrollling
I’m pretty sure the NGP version will be close to the PS3 version with 2D and 3D
If true, this is good for the Sony fans, but I don’t care. I wonder though, will it be a third build or the console version portable, if it’s the latter I have to ask what the point would be of buying the NGPSVita version.
