Says Classic Sonic “Only for This Game”
In a two part video we have below, Sega’s newly appointed Associate Brand Manager Aaron Webber guides the crew at Digital Chumps through both classic and modern stages from the home console edition of Sonic Generations.
Webber also makes some noteworthy remarks, including word that Classic Sonic is available “only for this game”–indicating an unwillingness to bring him back for future projects. Earlier news of the ability to play mostly as classic or modern exclusively was also reiterated, and we again see some difficulty within the Green Hill caves. To be fair, however, the player isn’t very good.

So Sega/Sonic Team refuse to bring back a character design/model/skin to the first episode to a game that is a sequel to a series of games people hail as classics simply because the game is new…..as well as decide to let a third-party developer (Dimps) use their own set of physics/use existing physics that aren’t close to those classics instead of making them similar to those classics for a game that is supposed to be a DIRECT sequel to those games…
…..then you go back on your word and actually bother to bring up that model, and make by scratch BY YOURSELF those classic physics and an entire alternative GAMEPLAY set for that model themselves as well as bother to make him a character for that game’s plot for the VERY next mainstream Sonic game…..whereas you could had just made modern Sonic race through levels from previous games….
…..and you not only bother to at least have some second thoughts about letting the developer stay involved with this classic game sequel (even after looking at their current progress at ANOTHER attempt to recreate classic physics [Sonic Generations 3DS] )….but despite what is probably a very positive response to them bringing back that model for this game, you also refuse to bring that character model back after that game…..not even for the sequel to the classics?

They could at least put classic sonic in sonic 4. But for future games, they should keep modern sonic in his modern games.
