Acknowledges Mistakes, Reaffirms Further Episodes in Development

What will likely be the only Sonic 4 news to come out of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo is part of a piece produced by GiantBomb.com.

In an interview conducted Wednesday, Sega West head Mike Hayes affirmed more Sonic 4 was on the way, citing without specifics its commercial success.

“We were very pleased with the first one,” Hayes said.  “Commercially, it’s been hugely successful across all platforms.”

While, on the surface, it sounds like dollars and sense, Hayes also acknowledged issues with Episode I, and expressed confidence those problems will be corrected in subsequent installments.

“I know there were some quality issues that we had there that we’ve taken on board and there will be further episodes following up on that,” Hayes explained.  “I think the next one’s excellent. I think that’s going to overcome some of the issues that we had on the first one.”

Unfortunately, as far as we’re aware, the next one hasn’t been shown or even talked about at E3 beyond this interview, and given how so much focus now lies on Sonic Generations, we may not for a good while.
