Also Addresses 3DS Concerns
With E3 behind him, Sega’s Associate Brand Manager for Sonic Generations, Aaron Webber, took to the company’s forums today to address concerns that arose from last week’s public and private demos.
First, if you have concerns about how the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 version controls, it does not appear they will change much between now and the game’s November release.
“The demo for next-gen is fairly accurate to what the final game will feel and play like,” Webber said. “I was really excited to see what people thought of Green Hill when they got to play it, and Sonic Boom proved beyond any doubt that a ton of fans are really pleased with how it’s coming along.”
Webber also brushed off that glitch which occurred during a live IGN playtest, and commended colleague Patrick Riley for handing the situation, saying “he rolled with the punches pretty well there.”
Then, there is the 3DS edition, clearly in need of help the most right now. Webber speculated that what we cited earlier today may have been “fake,” in his words. But he assured–and did not promise–that elements of the 3DS game would be brought up to par before release.
“They’ll be much-improved, but I know better now than to promise any specifics until I play them firsthand,” Webber said.

We want a demo D:
Will the demo be released this month?
Mmmmm june 23, that would be a nice date =)
hmmm…So….we will wait patiently until the end. God brain is so shot right now from lugging cases of fireworks all day. Then guy show up at door wanting laptop fixed…. I do too much!
Webber needs to realize he’s not the father of sonic so he should stop trying to be.
The Green Hill Zone demo had brought ‘nothing but a smile’ to my face. Haha =D Aaron speaks the truth!
I thought the game ran smoothly when I tried it at Sonic Boom.
Thing is I keep thinking of Sonic 4 when playing as Classic Sonic, thinking I could do the homing attack.
Aaron gets a smile from seeing people enjoying generations
The rest of us get a smile that most of the sonic fanbase finally shut up
DEMO, DEMO, DEMO, DEMO! I want this demo!
Worth noting is that the team is also still working very hard on making the next-gen versions of the game as good as possible, too.
Just as you’ve seen a number of improvements from the first footage of the game to where we are now with the PS3/360, there are more to come… those with a keen eye should stay tuned to see what we’ve got in store!
@Manic – Worry not, I certainly don’t claim to be or think that I’m the father of Sonic. I was truly humbled to get to stand next to the guys who really are last week at Sonic boom, though. A fantastic experience.
@Aaron Webber
…
Holy crap, I didn’t know he was actually on here!
Props to you for staying in contact with the fanbase, Aaron!
@ Aaron Webber
I think it’s awesome that you’re so down to earth with the Sonic fanbase. I hope you do wonders for Sega and you’re doing great so for by keeping in contact with fans and finding out what they want to see.
Keep up the awesome work!
I knew Aaron Webber was on here. Could’ve swore I saw him post on here and Sonic Stadium before in the past. In fact, when first hearing about him I thought it was a Sonic fan who became part of SEGA, and it turns out I think that’s just what he is. So no wonder he knows more about the Sonic fanbase, specifically us online brats. lol Especially since he’s an English speaker (in reference to US specifically being an English speaking crowd)
A lot of SEGA employees now are originally Sonic fans from the previous years anyways. lol ^^
And I am pleased with Sonic Generations so far and if there’s more “improvements” to look forward to, I’m interested. Despite the FEW technical flaws I saw, which are likely going to be fixed, everything else looked awesome as is, and if that’s gonna be improved then wow. =)
Sega should have added past and future sign posts to switch between the generations and have 2 acts a piece for both classic and modern this way they pay homage to sonic cd and also alow the player to play how they want
@Daniel
Yeah but they’d only be able to have the past and future posts for levels that’d have past and future versions, which are only in Sonic CD, so they’d only be able to do Sonic CD levels. For them to put them in any level would mean switching to another level. But unless you only want 2 or 3 levels, how do you determine which levels are “past” and which are “future” if they’re all 3 whole eras of past levels and NO future levels? o3o
Besides, the only gimmicks they toss from one level and into another are the ones that can be used within the level (such as item boxes) xD
But a Sonic CD stage would be cool. Too bad it wasn’t mainstream. xD
@Axxidous
Isn’t Sonic CD touted as one of the best in the series? How the hell is that not manstream?
I’m not trying to argue with you, I’m just upset that there isn’t a Sonic CD stage. Stardust Speedway? Collision Chaos? Hell, I’d settle for another Green Hill clone in Palmtree Panic.
If the console versions control like an improved version of unleashed then im not really worried. I would like to see more of that spindash drifting thing. That sounds like a great concept and looked pretty cool.
Keep up the good works.
Also @Aaron Webber. U did a great job at handling questions at SonicBoom and replying to agressive comments online. I give u mad props for being a man of class and good sonicness.
@HyperMetal
“Isn’t Sonic CD touted as one of the best in the series?” Um, not that I know of, that’s how? o0 I hear more praise for “Sonic 2″ or “Sonic 3 & Knuckles” (As a whole).
And what does that have to do with being part of the mainstream storyline? o0 I’m just saying it’s not really part of the original “Sonic The Hedgehog” trilogy, it’s like on the side. =p
Well I didn’t decide that there wouldn’t be a Sonic CD stage. I was just saying it wasn’t as popular AS the main series and that might be why it didn’t make it.
Also, most ppl who asked for a Sonic CD stage, which wasn’t many, asked for Stardust Speedway. But they were likely only thinking of the boss race with Metal at the end. I bet they didn’t consider that, without specification, SEGA might’ve made it a remake of the 1st act’s Present style only with no boss. xP lol I’m just theorizing tho. :3
