Rebuilt In New “100% Accurate Engine”
It’s been a while since we last spoke of Sonic Time Twisted, at least since the 2010 SAGE. But progress continues on the Sonic fan game, and we learned Sunday on Sonic Retro’s dedicated thread for the post it has some new guts to go with it.
“The game runs on top of Mercury’s 100%+ accurate engine AeStHete,” said project head Overbound in the update. “That’s a name you might want to remember because it’s a very advanced open source Sonic engine that has yet to be released.”
Time Twisted, in its current form, will have 10 stages meant to represent the best of the core Genesis titles. Time travel will remain a cornerstone feature, and Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails will be featured.
A couple screenshots and concept screenshots for the game are available in the gallery below. There’s no updated demo yet, but when it’s out it will surely be proving ground for AeStHete, in contrast to a growing number of Sonic game engines out there for fan game developers to use.

Awesome!
I love seeing different timelines for each Zone ^^
And I think those mountains in the Bad Future are From Carnival Night on Sonic 3. . .
This sounds very cool. I cannot wait until the updated game is released.
I’ve never had that much of a desire to play Time Twisted before to be honest. But with this new engine I’m eager to try it now. It’s looking really awesome, especially that snow level.
Good call on using the Sonic 1 sprites (classy), the previous ones were shit.
