The Next “Moonwalker?” Ehhh….
You don’t get many retro remixes of modern pop tunes very often. How appropriate it is, then, for the artists behind the Sonic Colors image themes to try it out for one of their own hits.
Yesterday afternoon, Cash Cash released a Genesis-ized version of Party in Your Bedroom. We have it below via Youtube. It may allow a recall of some fond days with the Sega console, but we’re pretty sure it won’t actually result in a party in your bedroom.
Nevertheless, enjoy it below.

this actually sounds like it could have been in a sonic game
HOWEVER. things like this i always find to be a waste of time……
this isn’t the same as sprited games. Pixels are a form of art, which is the reason when games come out in full sprited form, they can still do very well.
8-bit MUSIC however, is soooo wasteful. Honestly the only 8-bit tracks i ever actually listen to are the one’s i remember hearing from the games i played as a child… *although Sonic colors was impressive, and made sense* Has anyone ever played Final Fantasy The 4 Heroes of Light…… that was 8-bit fused with 16-bit sounds…… Not the the soundtrack was terrible, but because of the sounds they used, it didn’t make me wanna listen to it. Or play the game for that matter, which i DON’T reccomend playing x.x
recommend.. lolz
and sorry for getting off topic XD
We need cashcash on sonic 4 EP2!!!
No more Jun Sanoue for 16 bits LOL
Awww… this verson is so nice… so soft…
@58SlugDrones
ROFL…. so true, there music is sooooo loud XD
….. good, but loud x.x
Now lets get a Jun Senoue remix add in cats and guitars.
Fuckin’ Jawsome!
Met one of them in person at Sonic Boom. Very interesting to see him again on the sign xD
It still sounds good and I can imagine it in a game, but it probably sounds better with better quality. Hence “better quality”. lol
16-bit means that it was as advanced as they could get. It was limited. In other words, turning 16-bit songs into higher quality songs is cool, but turning higher quality songs into 16-bit songs? Why are we lowering the quality again?
And why would we replace Jun Senoue with Cash Cash!? Jun Senoue’s worked with the music of Sonic games since Sonic 3 so screw replacing him cuz of ONE game that still had good music JUST becuase of the instruments he chose to use. If the music wasn’t good, ppl wouldn’t be remixing it and liking it without making it a dramatic change. XD
All Cash Cash did was Genesis-ize an already existing song. I guess we’re saying it would’ve been better if Jun had Genesis-ized pre-existing songs like Seaside Hill, Casinopolis, Lost World, and Grand Metropolis. XD lol
Still, it doesn’t sound bad. It’s cool that they did it. Nothing impressive but cool. C:
@FoxBoy
Look up chiptunes please, the retro sound is very appealing it has nothing to with “quality”.
Sonic has had a wide range of very talented composers Cash Cash nailed the sound and feel of a Genesis tune I don’t see why they shouldn’t compose some parts of Sonic 4, the classic Sonic games had a huge history with having composers that work mainly outside of game composing tracks. As far as S4E1 remixes go I’m sure the music could have nothing but white noise and people have remixed it, it’s the same reason people reused to give up on it (spoiler:It’s because it’s called Sonic 4)
Jun’s problem is that he is highly overused, for most of the projects he has worked on he composed the majority of tracks resulting in his music sounding very samey. The sound team behind Sonic Unleashed/Colors have a wide range of musical styles. If Jun is the lead composer for Generations all tracks will feature nonstop butt rock guitar while Tomoya Ohtani Kenichi Tokoi would create same very varied takes on the classic music.
Stupid logic states that orchestral music is always greater than rock music because it uses more and “higher quality” instruments.
Sometimes a specific sound is required to evoke a certain mood. Sometimes a guitar just sounds better than a cello, and sometimes a 16-bit soundboard sounds better than an entire orchestra. Get over it.
@ChaoticFox
Amen.
Is it that easy to get a Genesis soundfont or is there some special reason these guys have access to it?
I honestly wouldn’t know, I don’t really do anything with music
Hey, I do not know the original, but this sounded quite well for an adaptation.
Want Cash Cash for Sonic 4.
…..wow this should be in generations somewhere. Dont know how, but FIGURE IT OUT DAMMIT
@Dr.Eggfang
I don’t get what the deal is. When was the last time a Sonic game was rock centric? SA2?
@Blippa;
It is actually very easy to get a hold of a Genesis soundfont or tracker. There are tons of chiptunes on YouTube and the like using Genesis sounds.
Sounds like something that should’ve been in Sonic 4.
Ahh the memories…long they live but yet seem so cloudy anymore…Am I really that old? When was it….Christmas 92 I think…got Sonic 1 & 2 w/Genesis…I took to Sonic 2 before Sonic 1…odd but that’s how I rolled back then LOL. Never will forget that…I could only make it as far as that metropolis zone then I found out about stage select and well the rest is history lol.
I actually asked the band on YouTube in the case of whether or not they used “The Ultimate Mega Drive/Genesis Soundfont”, of which they replied to my question with this answer:
“actually, i didn’t use the sound font.. i just used bit crusher and few other EQs on a few of my minimoog synths and drum samples.. but i did use the original Sega Genesis snare :p”
So they pretty much went with the same approach that Senuoe took for Sonic 4 Episode 1, but instead of making it sound like dying cats, they used Bit Crusher and a Mini-moog to make it sound similar to a Sega Genesis track… And they still sampled the Sonic 2 Drum snare.
This actually reminds me of the Game gear Sonic games more than the Genesis Sonic games for some reason XD Just the beat, I guess ^^;
