Also: What’s in the 20th Birthday Bundle?
In the department of “Well, yeah, of course”, the European Playstation Network blog has confirmed a Sonic Generations demo is primed for release tomorrow, June 23rd in their latest “Heads Up Game Store Update” blog post. As we all know, tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the original Sega Genesis classic Sonic the Hedgehog.
The blog also outlines the contents of the $20 “Sonic 20th Birthday Bundle“, which contains:
- Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1
- Sonic Adventure (with DX Add-On)
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4 “Dynamic Theme”
Which all things considered, isn’t a bad deal, given that Sonic Adventure with the DX add-on normally sells for $15 by itself.
Though there’s no telling whether or not the Generations demo will be available to Xbox Live users tomorrow, it’s safe to assume that it will – though Xbox owners out there should keep in mind that all game demos are exclusive to Gold members for the first week of release (meaning those of you out there with Silver memberships will have to wait until next Thursday).

Its so odd to see a demo for a game this early on XBL, but i’m not complaining (assuming it is on XBL aswell)

Some important news about the demo. After July 12th the demo will be removed and previously downloaded versions will no longer work. It also seems we’ll only be playing Green Hill’s classic Sonic

It better not be for a limited time only…. that would be disappointing. But if it happens, it happens I guess. And that stuff about only playing as Classic Sonic sounds like a load of crap, I just don’t see why SEGA would do that, Modern Sonic is meant to show the development and progression of the series since the classics, leaving him out of the demo wouldn’t make sense. So I believe we get to play as both, but we’ll see tomorrow I guess.

Seeing as actually tommow’s my birthday as well, I’m getting the birthday bundle and the demo. Very good deal. My PS3′s been dying for a sonic game as of late.

WHAT ??? A dynamic theme in the bundle but not out of it ??? WTF I bought ALL of the Sonic games on the PSN full price, and I would’nt be allowed to get this theme ?????

But, remember… You don’t have to have the same birthday as a speedy blue hedgehog to be a “true” Sonic fan.
