The Music of Tomorrow, Today!
One of the more noteworthy items played during last weekend’s Summer of Sonic was the classic mix to City Escape for the upcoming Sonic Generations.
That track was ripped courtesy of Summer of Sonic DJ FLiGHTS, and it’s since made its way through the community. We’d like to share it with you, though it appears many thousands of you already have heard. Nevertheless, it’s available on a YouTube link below.
We’ll of course bring you as much new Sonic Generations info as we can in the coming weeks and months.

Finally, I’ve had this song for days, waiting for somebody to recognize it. And moreover, for somebody to upload it to Youtube, because, for some reason, I couldn’t.
It’s a good remix…it makes me wish the modern Sonic version was available…both normal and boost version…I also heard that “Endless Mine” track from the Endless Mine multiplayer level in Sonic 3 is remixed in there…I can barely hear it…so lol…
There’s also a SoS animation available…I think…that was shown on Sonic Paradox’s website…”Sonic Heroes in Brief”…very funny…it’s a nice distraction…lol
Meh. Would of preferred lyric less 16-bit sounds.
AND NOW…….it is time for the epic “Catch that TSSZ NEWS Spelling Mistake!” Game Tournament!
In this round, Tristan Oliver makes a hot pursuit at giving us news on the latest ripped City Escape music track! The audience is hushed. The news is delivered professionally so far. The YouTube video is clearly seen…yes, but there is only a matter of time before…
*ding, ding, ding*
OH! It looks like contestant krazeeKidd102 has pressed the buzzar. He’s points to the article, AND…look what we have here:
“We’d like to share it with you, though it appears many thousands of you already have head.”
Funny. The contestant hasn’t ever “head” anything before. None of us knows what that means, nor do we want our indecent minds to remind us of a similar verb.
Well, that’s all the time we currently have, but join us next time on TSSZ News Spelling Check Tournament when Tristan accidently mistakes “weeks” for “years”! Goodnight, America!
Haven’t I already been through enough?
-T
Okay krazeeKidd, you’re going waaaay overboard. You need to work on your subtlety, nobody likes hamfisted jokes. And while I’m at it:
We get it, Tristan’s had a spotty track record has done some questionable things in the past. Whoop dee shit, we all do. Can we all just grow up and let this go already?
Christ almighty, move the fuck on, people.
And yeah, that was me defending Tristan.
Deal with it, kids.
Seriously krazeeKidd, this is just beyond bad. Cool it already, Tristan’s already had a bad week without you adding to it.
For some reason, I thought up my earlier comment and actually thought it would be somewhat funny. It wasn’t planned as an insult to Tristan or anyone else; it was, in all honesty, for humor.
Now looking back on it, even as a casual joke, I went on way too long.
The retro sounding, endless mine sounding buried under all the autotune is rather catchy. If they wanted a classic level to have lyrics they should have gone all out and had Richard Jacques do a remix.
Sonic Generations has some serious Jun ego stroking going on for a game that’s supposed to stretch across the series history, they couldn’t even bother to use to use the Sonic 1/2 act clear for classic Sonic both he and modern have the overused one from Sonic 3 which is without a doubt one of Jun’s creations. I cringe at the thought of him throwing a bunch of guitars at Sky Sanctuary it deserves a big epic orchestral treatment.
Actually a whole bunch of tracks in this game deserve a orchestral treatment, something like that conveys more emotion and nostalgia than a bunch of synch and samples ever could.
@ Sonical: I agree. SG’s sky sanctuary needs something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V10lnxggGQ
And this is for ol dreams sake, but if there is any chance of them remaking twinkle that would be a full circle of nostalgic epicness. The original twinkle park music came from the classics era Sonic 3d blast genesis. Remade in the adventure era and they should have it in generations and that would be modern era. So ya go a single song from all three eras of sonic history. Just listen to the potential http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo66lpbAhNs&feature=related
sorry *Twinkle Park* was the stage and song i was referring to.
Back to the realm of actual possibilities tho. Ice Cap Zone and Star Light Zone for DLC Please!!!!!
Pretty cool, but old news. I heard this song almost a month ago. What I really want to hear is the modern city escape song for Sonic Generations.
@krazeeKidd102
“AND NOW…….it is time for the epic “Catch that TSSZ NEWS Spelling Mistake!” Game Tournament!”
Oh! Oh! I found one!
“He’s points to the article” It was in your comment! :O
———-
On a seperate note, what happened to Tristain? D:
In any case, thank you for bringing the clear Classic City Escape remix to the spotlight. =D Most people have heard it, but not everyone. =)
@krazeekid
You spelled “buzzer” wrong!
Fucking autotune… when will they learn?
I can’t wait to hear the actual theme of the game.
It’s amazing… but it’s in mono?
That’s a catchy mix and not bad. It’s interesting that the classic tune is keeping the two step beat of the original compared to the 4 step beat of the first. More accurate I suppose, although I’d love to hear a 4 beat version. The synth overlay and melody is a pretty good one though, and as pointed out, the retro touch of Endless Mine is a nice one that works well with the song.
Now I’m curious though, does this mean that the “modern” versions of the classic tunes will retain the 4 beat structure? Can anyone who has heard them confirm the classic 4 beat or the rock 2 beat?
I made a slight error above.

Is it coincidence that I mashed up City Escape with Endless Mine in Sonic Blast! 2? =]
@krazeeKidd102
I actually understood you humor, i didn’t find it offensive at all.
Although i guess i can see how some can find it insulting… maybe lolz
That being said though… we all need to understand, that when we point out an error in an article, it’s not to intentionally defame Tristan, but to make the article more understandable by causing less confusion o.O
I’d love a download link to the song.
I. LOVE. This remix <33
There should have been no voice for the classic version of this song, it should have been more like green hill classic theme style, but this remix is still cool^^
Faggots singing in Sonic games turned me off the franchise years ago.
to bad sega carnival is not in this game, was my fav sonic stage evar! aw well
city escape is still awsome
Awesome! I love this! Now, where’s my modern mix?
BE……..AU……TI…..FULL!!!!!!!!
Sega did the impossible… making this song even more AWSOME, if someone complaine about this game, I shot my self
I bookmark this song. I listen to it every day. I love the original version from Sonic Adventure 2 and now the remix it. Good choice SEGA .
Sounds amazing. THANK YOU, SEGA!
@Foxboy
lol the irony.
Anyway it doesnt matter to me about a simple spelling mistake, this is still the best Sonic news site around in my opinion, (although I am aware Krazeekidd was only joking, and the joke was pretty funny lol).
Regarding the article, I was surprised to hear vocals or autotune in this version, I always assumed for Classic Sonic stages would have a more retro theme in them. Its still good though.
YES.
YES.
Different singer…<_<
…Didn’t finish listening…Autotune rapes the entire thing.
Wow you people lack all the humor in the fucking world to not think krazeekid was joking.
Fuck guys, go walk outside for a change.
Turbo: It’s not a different singer, it’s the same guy, what the hell are you talking about?
Ah you might be right Haru. They just raped him with autotune everywhere.
haha nice one Krazeekid
but yea the remix is nice
This is great!
In the original, the singer was Tony Harnell or something like that. At Sonic Boom, we had Johnny Goeli (sorry mispelling so much, but whatever) of Crush40. So, it may be a different singer. Autotune isn’t bad if it’s used tastefully. I liked computerized effects, so I don’t mind too much here.
EPIC REMIX IS EPIC!
i finally found the clearer version of this song without background noises<333. TSSZ is awesome like that XD.
