For both consoles and 3DS
Following all the fun and games Sonic Retro had with the Sonic Generations demo, Sega has updated their official product description page for the game, clearing the air on some of the game’s features and revealing a couple of new ones:
The ultimate celebration of 20 Years of Sonic gaming, Sonic Generations delivers the definitive gaming experience for Sonic fans new and old.
Sonic’s universe is thrown into chaos when a mysterious new power comes into force, creating ‘time holes’ which take Sonic and his friends back in time. Whilst there, Sonic runs into some very familiar characters from his past including a younger version of himself! Now they must team up to defeat their enemies, save their friends, and find out who is behind this diabolical deed.

Of interest is the mention of teaming up with other characters in the game – and in light of how hard they’ve stressed that Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic are the only playable characters, what “teaming up” entails is currently a mystery – could it be something like Tails following you in Sonic 2? Or, given other known factors, is it just a clever play on words?
The 3DS features also mentions “Status Points” – and we have seen that the console versions of Sonic Generations were keeping track of some sort of separate, universal score, and during E3, Sega’s Patrick Riley implied there was some type of as-of-yet unnannounced “internet functionality” – could this be related to “Status Points”? I’m assuming they feed in to some kind of leaderboard or something, given the name.
More as it happens!
