For Those of You Wanted to Be Just Like Sonic

Despite Sonic’s 20th anniversary technically being over, it doesn’t mean that celebrations of and homages to the Blue Blur can’t continue. After all, Sonic Generations isn’t coming out until later this year. Just yesterday a 1UP staffer realised this and decided it was his turn and chose to celebrate the fans rather than the games: specifically, the artists.

As part of a week-long feature, Bob Mackey has decided to find and create his colleagues in hedgehog form while encouraging readers to do the same as a way of celebrating the community over the past two decades. Though don’t worry, you won’t have to draw yourself as a hedgehog (unless you want to, of course) especially if you can barely draw a perfect circle like me. Surprisingly, all it takes is a simple search at deviantART with your name and then a ‘the Hedgehog’ title at the end to come up with your counterpart. Even if you can’t find a self-named hedgehog, and you should be able to, Mackey has offered to “draw hedgehog versions of anyone who doesn’t have one” and is “serious.” So really, you don’t have an excuse.

Find part one of the feature here and, then check out part two. For those of you who do find a hedgehog named after you, consider sharing (and make sure to reference, link and credit the original artist). Who knows, I may even join in.
