Takes Over 20% Market Share

Andriasang reports some very good news for Sega: The company was the top revenue generator among all game publisher in Japan for the month of June.  This, according to the latest Famitsu.com analysis.

With its 20.9% market share, Sega even beat out Nintendo making bread for the month, and by a sizeable margin.  Nintendo, at the second spot, claimed a 14.8% market share.

Much of the success can be attributed to a high price point for Yakuza of the End, which sold about 376,000 units in Japan last month.  The latest Yakuza sold on PS3 for ¥7,980, the quivalent of over $100 in US money.  In contrast, the next highest seller, Nintendo’s 3DS rendition of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, sold at a ¥4800 price point, or over $60 in US money.
