No In-Show Presence; Instead, a “Pop-Up Arcade”
Tickets the San Diego Comic Con are always a hot commodity; they typically sell out within days, if not hours. That’s what makes Sega’s “presence” at the show announced today via press release that much more appealing to those who can’t be at the show itself, and that much more clever a move on the company’s part.
That’s because Sega won’t actually be at the show with a proper booth. Instead, the company announced a SEGA Arcade at space they’ve temporarily rented about two blocks from Comic-Con central. All major upcoming Sega titles, including Sonic Generations and Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, will be there, and they will be playable.
The press release also states an unannounced game will also make its debut at the exhibition. A lot of people have been scratching their heads as to the progress or even existence of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II, so this may be something to watch out for. We’ll also have to see if an updated build from Sonic Generations shows up. As it stands now, however, this event will mark the first public demo for M&S 2012.
If you’re in the area and plan to go, Sega will set up shop at 345 6th Street, between K Street and J Street in San Diego. The arcade will open on Wednesday and remain open until Sunday at various hours. Full details are in the press release below.

i think it will be a different SEGA game unfortuntly. I think it will be a new Road Rash game that EA announced 2 years ago. Even though i love the Road Rash series but i want a new Sonic game. New SEGA games like Aliens Madworld etc except for sonic is really violent these days. I want a sequel to chuchu rocket now that be awesome!
@Stephan
Its not case of characters, its case of alternative gameplay. This wont fix the problem. Remember Werehog? Other playables can be implemented without making alternative gameplay.
Look up to my post about my dream sonic game. Remember Sonic and Knucles its quite the same idea. Making characters have the same speed but their unique abilities let them play their levels in their own way but dont alternating from Sonic Gameplay that much.
You get the idea? Think about it.
@SA3 2011
I understand perfectly.
@Stephan
So now what you think of other playable characters?
@SA3 2011
I think they’ll be fine, but just shouldn’t be focused on more than Sonic.
@Stephan:
How about NiGHTS? 15th anniversary after all.
And Puyo Puyo is 20th anniversary. . .
Oh. nevermind. I thought you meant focused on other games but Sonic games. ^^;
I have never played Puyo Puyo in my life and have never seen game footage. I don’t even know what it’s about. *holds up flame shield*
@stephan if you played Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine for SEGA Genesis and SEGA Game Gear it’s exactly the game thing. The GENESIS one is the exactly the same thing. Gald i could help! and if you have not played it i reccomend it.
Puyo Puyo is like Columns on the Game gear. You match up to 4 of the same colors to clear the screen. when the enemy can’t keep up and fills their screen, you win and it’s game over for them.
Yea I dont think it will be a Sonic. Sonic isnt the only series Sega has. (Even though half of their games are Sonic games)
Sega
I love generations, please, remove the delay on jump of Classic Sonic in Sonic Generations, please.
Only this.
Maybe we’ll get a new trailer out of this also…..
If they make a new game can it be for retail.
My guess is they might be remaking the original sonic adventure 2.
Hopefully they make a game where you can make your own sonic levels.
