“Haunted Tower” Meant to Demonstrate Control Flexibility
As Siliconera reported today, Yuji Naka and his Prope development studio had at least one unused trick up its sleeve for the Wii. While Let’s Tap and more recently Family Fishing got a green light for the Nintendo console, another pitch didn’t fare so well.
It’s called Haunted Tower, and Mr. Naka explained in the most recent Nintendo run Iwata Asks roundtable, the game was to feature players shooting monsters outside the base TV frame by pointing the Wii controller beyond the frame.
That sounds a little confusing, and that may be why it never got off the ground. The project was canceled and Prope instead focused on a collaboration for Wii Play: Motion on a minigame titled Trigger Twist. It’s unlikely we’ll hear much else about Haunted Tower beyond what is, essentially, today’s footnote.

Well then just dont read it, DUH! Silly…..
OK, where the heck is Rodea the Sky Soldier? Has it been cancelled? I haven’t heard that it is, but we also haven’t seen anything more about this game since the trailer came out in January. Naka was even at E3, and he didn’t make any Rodea announcements.
Sounds like something that could actually take advantage of the WiiU hardware.
It’d be perfect for a Wii U game
My bad, that was alittle ignorant of me.
So the idea is, the enemies are off screen and you shoot them from there? Unless it used the speaker and they were slow moving, it doesn’t sound like it would work too well on anything but a 3DS, Vita, or Wii U.
Only Probe game I like is Ivy The Kiwi… sigh.
