Sonicthehedgehog.com Relaunches, Marks 20th Anniversary
If you saw the commemorative anniversary trailer yesterday, you likely saw a complementary website that opened this week to mark Sonic, his upcoming games, and the 20th anniversary.
SonicTheHedgehog.com replaces Sonic Central, and it features the latest trailers for Sonic Generations, as well as Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. There is also some Sonic wallpaper to download, which is presently the only download for offer via the website.
It’s not clear whether Sega has bigger plans for this portal beyond promoting Generations and M&S 2012; we should note any mention of Sonic 4 on the website is strangely absent, despite repeated assurances follow-up episodes are in the pipeline. Thanks to everyone who let us know of the website opening via our News Tips system.

lol at the Eggman background in the downloads area.
sigh… Capcom canceling things, now SEGA? Hopefully not.
^ Please SEGA, just improve it, not cancel it!!
I already checked this place out, it’s alright…
People quit trippin about Sonic 4. We’re not gonna hear about it months after they announce they’re STARTING developement. My gawd.
Sonic Central lost my interest after Unleashed. Good on you, Sega.
I’ve seen Sonic Central, not the best site IMO.
@Foxboy
Not to sound like a dick but some of us don’t give a crap about Sonic 4 after Generations was announced. Cause Sonic Team started showing actual thought and effort put into it (despite the level list’s lack of variety) compared the imcompentence known as Dimps.
It could use some work, but Sonic needed an american site ever since the US Sonic Channel stopped getting updated.
@Raggtime: Agreed, 100%.

Hmm, games listed:
Sonic Generations
Mario & Sonic 2012
Sonic Colors
Sonic Free Riders
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1
Yep, they sure forgot about Sonic 4 there.
Really, though, the site is promoting ANNOUNCED ANNIVERSARY games. Episode 2 has yet to be officially announced. And even then, we don’t know if it will be out this year. Might be saving it for next year. Quit being so reactionary. Sonic 4 still exist, they promote it on the website. It’s just that chances are Sonic Generations is the focus, because with Generations having the classic Sonic gameplay, Sonic 4 is just more of the same. It makes sense to keep off Episode 2 until 2012.
I remember the days of Sonic Central circa early 00s.
SA2 was great fun, Sonic was in his hipster phase, and at the time, Sonic X looked friggin awesome.
Good times, good times.
It’s nice, but I would like more options and downloads. Like, mini playable game and calendars.
Meh, maybe I just want another Sonic Channel.
@Foxboy: Do you know what other game silently bit the dust without our knowing that was to be a sequel to a certain Chronicle on DS? It’s not unlikely to have happened.
Besides, if it’s dead, all I can do is celebrate and hope they make an actual Sonic 4 with new material and proper game design.
They should have kept sonic central. I haven’t seen that site active since 2007
Nothing too special, but it’s nice to have another official Sonic website.
Good Lord the Eggman Desk Top 0.0
Guys you remember that Sonic 4 is made by Dimps? So they are making 3DS ver. Of Generations. People said that its “shitty” and Dimps is giving everything they got to improve it. They dont have time for Sonic 4. Maybe next year when Sonic Team will make Sonic game for PSVita then they will have time for Sonic 4.
Nice wallpapers.Last time they made 2D artwork was 3 years ago
@Quietguy
Amen to that, bro! *high-five*
SEGA isn’t going to cancel it.
I wonder if this means Generations won’t get a legitimate website now.
@Frank
I want to say most of those wallpapers ARE about that old, lol… I could be wrong, but they look extremely familiar.
@Killer Bunny!
Thanks. *high-five*
