Public Urged: “Do Not Fall for It”

UPDATE: Problem solved.  Stevo Bortz tells us the website LegalSounds.com has taken down the Lucid Dreaming album, originally for sale on the website.  The original story follows below.

Today much of the NiGHTS community, including several who worked on the recently released NiGHTS: Lucid Dreaming remix album, was rocked amid allegations a website was selling what was originally the free to download work.

The call to arms was originally sounded by album director Stevo Bortz, who was not happy to learn the website LegalSounds.com offered the album for purchase, and are pocketing those profits.

“Me and 40 other people didn’t work for two years to make a free album just to have some shady Russian pirates line their pockets a bit,” Bortz said on his Twitter account.

Much of that same sentiment was echoed elsewhere, including on the front page of NiGHTSIntoDreams.com, where site admin and album associate producer Niyazi Sonmez called for users to contact the website’s legal team and have it taken down.

“It’s certainly bad to steal commercial music but it’s ten times worse when someone steals and tries to sell FREE music,” Sonmez said.  “DO NOT FALL FOR IT.”

For the moment, be advised to remain vigilant–it is against OCRemix’s Terms of Service to resell their music, so if you see something of theirs for sale, know that it’s being offered for free.
