Caves, Rappies, and the character creator shown
Perhaps its the abundance of important Sonic Team franchise anniversaries lately, but the company sure seems to be indulgent in nostalgia as of late. That trend has continued with the slow ramp up in information and media for Phantasy Star Online 2, arriving in time for PSO’s 10th anniversary this year. A collection of screenshots and a new trailer for the multiplayer dungeon crawler dropped today, offering a chance to see everything from the character creator, and the return of a host of familiar faces and locales. Despite claiming to be a sequel, the still-PC-exclusive PSO2 seems dead set on remastering what was most iconic about the original game.

Phantasy Star Online 2 still does not have a release date as of yet, but given it’s for PSO’s tenth anniversary, “sometime in 2011” sounds about right.
