Including the Revival of the Sonic Super Special
Over the weekend, Archie Comics revealed, among its batch of coming Sonic comics and compilations for late Fall, that the Sonic Super Special will be revived in magazine form. The 128 page issue appears to include elements from Sonic Genesis, Shadow stories, and bonus features.
Book four of Sonic Select will be out shortly thereafter, compiling several previous Sonic Super Specials into one compilation. But many will likely focus their attention on the principal issues, notably the first post-Genesis issue of the main Sonic comic with Titan Metal Sonic unleashed, and the teaser line “The world is safe – but at a terrible cost.” Might Sally be done for after all? We’ll find out in late November.
Synopses for all four editions are below, followed by their respective covers.

Um Tristan? About the news tip I sent today, the Sonic Scene that I was referring to is a different Sonic Scene than the one that you guys are affliated with. Just thought I’d point that out just in case. I included the link to that other Sonic Scene in the tip.
And if you’re reading this, give Woun all the credit for the finding of the articles.
Come on. . . Is it not so very obvious who the villanous shadow with the question mark is? XD
SSS returns…128 pages? Magazine sized? SOLD.
i dont like the comics they arent canon
@teirusu
I like ones that aren’t, the most acclaimed graphic novels are standalone stories that don’t exist in any canon. Sonic as a comic should be full of energy and fun strapping it down with canon leads to fanwanking and MEGA LIFE CHANGING EVENT after DARK EDGY MEGA LIFE CHANGING EVENT.
Awesome!
Hey, just thought I’d point out something. Did anyone else notice the eyelash on the “Metal Sonic” on the 231 cover? Looks more like Metal Sally to me…
@Sonical
how can you explain to those who think the comics are canon while the games are not?
>Meh, Babylon Rogue side story no one cares about..
>Why is he blacked out it’s clearly Metal Sonic fffffffffff–
>The Sonic Select cover makes me glad Evil Sonic took on the identity of Scourge…
>Super Sonic Special…
>…
>WAT
WAT. WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED OF THIS WHERE’S MY WALLET
@Nomad
Do you see the eyelash on the “Metal Sonic?” Do you see Sonic’s “OH NO!” expression? It’s a Roboticized Sally for sure.
@The Shadow Emperor It is definetly not a roboticized Sally for two reasons. 1. The Roboticizer technology is destroyed or Eggman doesnt do that kindve stuff anymore(He legionizes them, which is just putting cybernetics in their body). 2. It is clearly Metal Sonic. Nothing on Mobius Prime looks like that except for Metal Sonic and Metal Scourge.
*sees new Sonic Magazine*
Jeez Archie, u just LOVE sucking money from us OCD collectors huh??!! lol
Anyway all this looks pretty interesting, the shadow kinda looks like a Metal Sally to me (if the shadow is facing the reader, and not Sonic) and Titan Metal Sonic is already becoming my fav name for an already established character
Still wish i could care for the Rouges in ANY shape, fashion, or form but maybe this arc will turn me around….
@Striker: The top of the head is making a rounded, spherical shape instead of a pointed metal quill.
They almost got us there into thinking it really was Metal Sonic. But it’s not. They cut off the major detail that you’d notice the most in the silhouette. It’s not M. Sonic. I don’t know about a Metal Sally, but that’s certainly not Metal Sonic. Unless the Titan has a really weird sphere on its head, it’s not Metal Sonic.
I agree with The Shadow Emperor, I think that’s Metal Sally. The whole stance is sorta feminine and the head doesn’t look like its sporting quills. Plus, Sonic looks way too freaked out for that being another overdone Metal Sonic. Eggman being completely cool and evil would hit where its hurts, aiming for Sonic’s heart.
Archie is going for new and life changing so the new “metal” concept would make sense.
@ teirusu and GoldenHedgy
The comics and games are on separate canons. Sort of like how there are 8 or 9 separate canons for Batman (ie: The First 4 Movies, the DCAU, The Dark Knight Trilogy, the comics).
You just happen to prefer the game’s canon over the comic book. In my case, I like both.
