Nearly Entire 5 Year Archive of Video Wiped
Those behind the Sonic Stadium’s podcast centric The Sonic Show are trying to pick up the pieces from a malicious attack and wipe of a principal YouTube account used to store much of the broadcast’s streaming material.
“This is a huge blow for The Sonic Show, as someone has basically deleted our history, our existence,” wrote Sonic Show admin Disco Ponies regarding the matter on its website. “If the account cannot be restored then episodes like our Summer of Sonic special will not be able to be reuploaded due to time limitation now placed on accounts after ours was created.”
Disco Ponies has submitted a complaint to YouTube, but as of the time of this article’s publication, no action has been taken.

Yeah, Sega who.
More hacking…
That banner is priceless…
@Chris Bores
Are you the real IG or are you just a random troll?
I’ve never understood what the heck the “Sonic Show” was supposed to be. I’d go to the site and it would just be a bunch of seemingly random videos about random subjects. In other words, I didn’t see anything in the way of an actual “show” format.
Maybe the “actual” episodes were just hard to find on that site, and I never saw them. Either way, this hack affects me in absolutely no way. Still, I feel sorry for everyone affected.
@sonikdude101: …pretty obviously a joke? Kids these days…
Anyway someone’s youtube account got hacked? Color me shocked.
“If the account cannot be restored then episodes like our Summer of Sonic special will not be able to be reuploaded due to time limitation now placed on accounts after ours was created.”
Actually, most account don’t have a time limit anymore. I’m not a partner, nor am I one of the old DIrector accounts, but they got rid of the time limit on my videos. They have said they intend to remove the time limit on all users. Now if you start a new channel, you might not have the ability to do it right away but I think you earn it in some way.
i never understood the mindset of some of these hackers.
Seriously?? C’mon, hackers. Put your skills to good use rather than being stupid.
Well… The videos are only deleted, probably not wiped from YouTube’s servers yet. Maybe there’s a way to get some of them back…
Stupid hackers. -_-
Someone must be REALLY bored to do something like that. That being said, kind of sucks, luckily I have one of their videos downloaded that I still want to put on my ipod.
I don’t want to take use this tragedy as a means to voice my opinion about the Sonic show, but as Legendary Emerald has stated, the show was just everywhere in every episode I’d watched. Last year, I stopped watching the show and going to the website since all was being done in both the headlines and videos were mocking of the Sonic community and jokes referring to the Sonic cycle as truth. This blew me away in how this was a SONIC show, yet they were dissing the fans and games alike.
I’m not sure if their approach to each segment has changed, and the fact that they have a Summer of Sonic episode does sound intriguing, but I’ve been able to do without and still will. My sympathies go out to them, but what’s done is done. Youtube doesn’t have the best anti-hacker reputation, and it would have been wise to keep the videos on an external harddrive as backup or something of the sort.
Is it just me or is the sonic community being singled out specifically targeted for hackers? Seriously they need to go bother gov’t websites and state websites…go bug them for a while. Add some juice to their boring lives LOL.
Well, even though the YouTube videos have been wiped, they can just reupload the podcasts, can’t they?
Still, shame.
>not having the videos you upload somewhere on a harddrive or anything physical in case of a backup
Holy fuck, how stupid can you get?
@Nomad
I’m not what you would call a “kid”. But thanks anyway. Silly me.
Most of us Sonic fans already have a bad rap. We don’t need to be lumped in with these idiot hackers too.
