You Want the Truck Chase? We Have It All
In our previous video, you saw the modern City Escape stage glitching out right at the point most wanted to see: the GUN truck chase scene.
Thankfully, there’s another video that surfaced today, showing the monstrous sequence in its entirety. It’s via YouTube and more specifically via the German website Gaming Clerks. The entire modern stage is shown, albeit off camera. Plus, you get another peek at the classic stage, though incomplete.
Have at look via the video below. Unfortunately, it appears the stage selection is limited to just this and Green Hill on the Gamescom show floor. It doesn’t mean more isn’t being shown behind closed doors, but it’s quite unlikely we will see Chemical Plant and beyond playable, at least for this showing.

Holy crap, he ACTUALLY knows what he’s doing!
That…that is nuts….that is the GUN truck from HELL!!!
God bless your soul Tristan. its even more beatiful than i could have ever imagined.
I think the reason why this guy is good is because he’s most likely a rep from SEGA so he would HAVE to be good, it’s his game he’s selling to us.
Wow. A player that’s actually competent. It’s a miracle. =D
Was that a guy in a link costume? Cool!
someone has a fetish for CHAINSAWS!!
Finally, someone who knows how to play a Sonic game.
What the hell kind of truck is equipped with rocket boosters!?
Sky Sanctuary and Planet Wisp shouldn’t get any trailers until the game’s release and for a compromise we get a Modern City Escape demo.
Why did they bring up Xbox LIVE and PSN at the end of the video? Unless they were talking about a new demo or some online feature…
I want to marry that truck.
We get to hear more of the modern theme now, and is it just me or did I hear a new verse?! 0_0
Holy jesus, that last truck chase section looks insane. I love it.
Yay, a 3D Sonic game that looks awesome to most people. Finally.
L:ooks amazing, and oh my is that a player who is atleast decent? And finally, I get to hear Modern City Escape.
Looks like that GUN truck won’t be causing property damage anymore.
The music changes when you get to the truck part just like in SA2. Also, I love how the truck is destroyed in this version. SLAM! Right into a building while Sonic slips through the narrow allyway.
Damn that ending was badass.
That shit blew up bigger than the Death Egg
Now we just need a clean rip of the music, then the wait for Generations will be more bearable!
Not gonna watch this, don’t wanna spoil myself until I get the game
I might have heard wrong but it sems like they included à bit of it dosent matter from sa 1 in city escape wich is extremly awsome , lovd that song XD !!!!!!!
M.bision: YES YEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is all!!
Wow-how-how a guy plays slightly better than most gameplay vids we see and suddenly he’s an expert. >_> Not to mention he’s a freakin rep, he’s only played the game over and over. xD
ANYHOO, onto the more important and less annoying part, I guess there wasn’t much mroe to the truck scene after all except it crashing into a building, but that was cool!
Plus I finally somewhat heard the new lyrics. Didn’t know what the hell he was saying, but sounded different alright. =) The music seems to sound better in actual gameplay with all the other sound effects filling the void. lol I only expect Green Hill and City Escape tho since the other 3 were just revealled and I doubt they’re gonna let us play half the freakin game that soon. xD (In fact I didn’t even expect City Escape, I thought it’d just be Green Hill again. xD)
Am I the only one who thinks that this player is still not that good, he boost when your not suppose to, like the part at the 2D section with the platforms and he boosted pass the rail plus he failed at the first pole.
@FoxBoy
Who says the guy is a rep? In the video he says he’s not played Act 1 (Classic Sonic) before. Doesn’t sound like a rep to me.
But I agree, he doesn’t play THAT well.
Modern city escape is pretty damn legit
“Wow-how-how a guy plays slightly better than most gameplay vids we see and suddenly he’s an expert. >_>”
You are the most forgiving of people it appears.
But since the music changed with the GUN Truck chase….and everything else…that was fucking beautiful, god damn.
But.
we still.
need.
a clean rip.
OF THE NEW CITY ESCAPE MUSIC GOD DAMMIT.
I love how much of the original City Escape is still very playable and intact in this new version and it gives me a LOT of hope for this game; more than I had before.
What Haru said! I want the Modern and Truck Chase! ;A; Has anybody heard the new melody bit OR the added lyrics!? It’s “It Doesn’t Matter”!! My favourite Sonic theme!
I just knew that this song would return somehow! Next thing you know, a bit of “What I’m Made Of” with Stardust Speedway!—-holy shit that’d be beautiful.
I swear when this game comes out, somebody needs to do song comparisons, just incase some people missed them! I never knew the beggining of City Escape’s sounded A LOT like Race to Win, from Sonic Rivals! So seriously, someone HAS to make comparisons on Youtube or something!
And btw, @Haru- Its impossible for us to get the OFFICIAL OST of Modern City Escape, because when your playing the game, you WON’T hear the part when Ted Poley and Tony Harnell say ” WE’LL MAKE IT THRROOUGGHH!! OHHH YEEEEEAAAAHHHHHHHH…..” So, we will have to wait until SEGA puts the song on iTunes, or releases a CD Soundtrack…sorry bud.
GIVE ME THE MUSIC FROM THE STAGE!!!! NOW!!!!!
man……SEGa, make it for PC, i not must be even in that year, but in 2012, please, make it!!!!
Buzz saws….not chain saws. I’m nitpicking again lol
That Guitar solo is so badass… Reminds me of It Doesnt Matter. And I could see new lyrics rythm right after solo but nothing more.
@jingoi Were getting a Modern Rooftop Run demo anyway so no need for a City Escape demo.
AWSOMENESS
, look at that structure where the TV is at, it’s from “panaSONIC” heheh awsome
I know a bit of German. At the start, they said something about the Dreamcast, then later they compared Modern to Unleashed and Colours, and a bit after that they were talking about the music, one of them seemed to think the song was called “Follow Me”. I CBA to do the rest. This looks epic, BTW.
lol, @ 2:10, you’re not the first one to miss that hoop!
Wait…why could it bust through that one building but not the other one…?
Maybe it’s tired!
@HyperMetal
My theory is that Segata Sanshiro was in it.
FINALLY!!!! Someone who is actually good!!!! Not to mention he’s a rep!!
Sonic is like “Yes, Im in a good level from a good game. Too bad my Voice Actor now sucks.
I gotta say, while the stage looks fun. I wish there was more grinding. This stage introduced sonic to grinding so it would only make sense…
@SOS
That IS kind of weird. There seem to be more grind rails in GHZ than there are here (apart from the super rad-tastical ones in the snowboarding sequence)
Then again, entire levels based around 90% Grinding, 10% Actual platforms tend to be boring or too broken to play. *coughRailCanyon&BulletStationcough*
@Striker: As if Ryan Drummond is teh bestest Sonic voice evar. Same goes for Jaleel White and that dude who voiced him in the OVA.
@Amuro
That’s because the grinding system in SA2 was complete and utter shit. I much prefer the auto-balanced grinding of the newer games. I should be allowed to focus on when and where I want to jump on/off the rail rather than being forced to try and keep my balance using faulty programming in order to maintain speed.
@Amuro I was talking about Roger Craig Smith. Also the best voice for Sonic is Jaleel White, and the best voice that was for the games was Jason Griffith. The voice in the OVA sounds wierd in my opinion.
@ChaoticFox: Really? Wow, didn’t see that coming. For some reason, I thought you hated the new grinding system, if you liked grinding at all.
@Striker: I know you were referring to Roger Craig Smith. I assumed you were one of those Ryan Drummond fanboys who thinks he’s the only one allowed to voice Sonic. The best voice for Sonic (at least in my opinion) was not Jaleel White. I definitely prefer Griffith over Drummond (that’s not to say I think he sucks, he’s just overrated), but in my opinion Roger owns them both. And also, how can Jaleel White be the best voice for Sonic in general, yet Jason Griffith is the best voice for Sonic in the games ? That doesn’t make much sense.
@Amuro
I like the grinding system just fine, I just don’t always love the way it’s mandatorily implemented into the level design (often without any sort of creativity or variety). I think the grinding is abused a little too much in modern games, but I don’t mind the concept.
Oddly enough, I always kind of liked Final Rush. Despite SA2′s relatively broken grinding system, the rails in that zone are used in a very unique way (I also like the fact that you can jump on and off as you please, occasionally allowing for massive shortcuts)
