Here Comes Omochao
Ready to test your patience in the video below is what we believe to be Omochao, recorded in a Green Hill Zone Act 2 playthrough at Gamescom by website Videogamer.com.
Omochao looks to help you out with basic game functions…but as he did in Sonic Adventure 2, quickly wears out his welcome. Unlike in SA2, Omochao simply flies away, and you can’t abuse him.
You may notice some other changes, so have a look at the video below and give your opinion in the comments section. Thanks to Woun for uploading to YouTube and then tipping us. If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking Send News Tips at the top of every page.

“Unlike in SA2, Omochao simply flies away, and you can’t abuse him.”
Someone make a petition, stat.
Oh Sonic Team….you seem very persistent to keep around Characters nobody likes…
Hopefully there will be something in the options to turn that godforsaken thing off.
Also, love the load screen! (Sorry for double comment)
@AdameTre- There is. Before you start the game, it will ask you if you want Omochao on or not, so there ya go
omochao wasnt THAT annoying. the person PLAYING on the other hand…
Maybe i am wrong, but i think it was Boost button in HUD, not Turbo button
Not to fear guys, i remember seeing an option to turn him off in a hacked demo vid ;D
As soon as I get this game, I’m turning that loading screen into a gif, and using it EVERYWHERE.
The loading screen is really quick! …and kind of cute.
That’s Act 2?
But I wanted to abuse (H)omochao!
Aww. Abusing Omochao was one of the funniest things in SA2.
Just goes to show that even people who clearly havent played a sonic game in their entire life are excited for Generations
If you don’t like Omochao, then fucking turn him off before starting the game!
It’s an option as Jacktheinfinite (IIRC) showed us all.
“Unlike in SA2, Omochao simply flies away, and you can’t abuse him.”
Aww, I would’ve torturing Omochao in HD like in the original. Oh, well.
Badass loading screen is Badass.
Look Sonic Team, if you’re going to put Omochao for helps and other guys, PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T USE THAT ANNOYING AWFUL VOICE ACTOR IN SONIC FREE RIDERS!!! PLEASE!!!
I like it I like it I like it.
@Demar Hewitt
You’re calling Laura Bailey awful?
Can’t wait to get this game for Christmas!
They should put a abuse option.
I wanna use my boost to the fullest extent
*Headdesk*
Omachao is there to help. Big freakin deal. No one complained about Tikal in SA1, or the characters when you touch the question mark, or Mike Pollock in Sonic 06 when touching the question mark, or Shahra or Merlina. Omochao was the best help guide they ever made. He’s a chao, he’s somewhat mysterious as a character never really involved in the story, he’s a robot, he has swily eyes, he only did the help thing in ONE GAME (til now), originally you could abuse him which was funny, and now he’s currently voiced by Laura Bailey. As far as I’m concerned this is cool. xD (but it’s also optional.)
Not going to watch it not going to watch it not going to watch it…
see told you.
I’d like a little surprise when it comes out. These days we get fed every single level in it’s complete form, to the point it feels like we’ve already played it.
@The Dead Skin
Um, dude, have you played (or even watched on YouTube) Sonic Free Riders?
There’s an option in the actual game to turn Omochao on and off, for those who dislike him. I’m also sad that I can’t pick him up, and throw him off cliffs like the good ol’ days.
“PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T USE THAT ANNOYING AWFUL VOICE ACTOR IN SONIC FREE RIDERS!!! PLEASE!!!”
Fuck you, Laura Bailey is a great actor, cocknozzle.
Anyways, other than Omochao what the hell was so different about this GHZ compared to the last few times?
If they absolutely must have some support character spell out how to play the game for you, then they should have a “Choose Your Buddy!”-style option for that (that’d be a GREAT obscure SA reference), where you can choose between Tikal, Omochao, the Duke of Soleanna or Chip.
If you can’t abuse Omochao, then what’s the point in including him in the game!?
God, does EVERYONE in Germany suck at playing Sonic games?
@AJB: That’d be pretty sweet, actually.
You know, for a person that attends a game convention you’d think they’d be able to play video games halfway decently.
@Demar: Laura Bailey can kick your ass any day of the week. Shut up. -_-
Jesus Christ, I have never seen so many critiques on the players in demo recordings before. Shitty or not, who the fuck cares? Do you think you’re making yourself sound like pro by pointing it out or something?
@Haru
You can be a great VA and still have an annoying voice, especially since that’s such a subjective statement. My only gripe with her voicing Omochao is the lack of the robotic effect the original had. Now he just sounds like a generic whiny little girl instead of a whiny little robot. His original voice had more personality and charm.
Besides that, I find it pretty obnoxious when people start DEFENDING voice actors like they’re your personal BFF or something. Creepy much? Looking @ you, Amuro…
I take the complaints of the players’ skill level as a good sign because it means they have nothing to complain about regarding the game itself.
That being said, I’m pretty sure this person has played Sonic before, or at least has seen Sonic, since the player was constantly holding right and boosting whenever possible. Someone who’s never played Sonic before will be running headfirst into everything and never boosting.
(I also find it kind of bizarre that, if the comments here are anything to go by, “decent” means S-Ranking a stage on your first try.)
SEGA is doing great, bringing another forgotten character, simply awsome… how did that guy get an A? jesus xD
lol, was that last rock there before?
I swear, If I can’t change his voice to that cute Japanese one…
So is she using her Young Maka/Henrietta voice?
I luv Omochao. The rest of you are Omophobes. (no gay slurs/innuendo intended, I’m totally straight… or I would be if I had a relationship at all)
“Omophobes” XD
I lol’d.
@ChaoticFox: Hey, I like Laura’s work. Sue me.
@Amuro
You have every right to, but that doesn’t really justify schoolyard insults like “Laura can kick your ass” just because someone doesn’t agree. Like I said to Haru, you can still be a talented VA without having a universally appealing voice.
@ChaoticFox: Fair enough.
Laura Bailey is a talented voice actress, she has great roles like Chun-Li *Street Fighter*, Serah *Final Fantasy XIII*, Pyrrah *Soul Calibur 5*
It’s just that every now and then she does that voice that drives you insane, like Omochao in free riders…. or that DAMNED Selkie girl from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers >.>
Hahaha, I love that “Classic and Moderm” sonic’s running while you wait after death.
ChaoticFox:

People said a lot of that to Ryan Drummond, and I laugh at that notion.
Heavily. If you’re going to whine about robotic voice, blame the people that did so little in synthesizing her voice, not Laura herself.
and again, I shall laugh at you.
@Haru
When your natural voice requires a robotic synthesizer to keep you from sounding like nails on a chalkboard, I think you deserve a little flak.
I’m not entirely sure which “notion” you’re laughing at. If you’re laughing at the idea that a VA can be talented while still coming off as obnoxious to some, then I will gladly retract that statement and just join the ranks of those who just say she’s a shitty VA. Would you prefer that, chuckles?
I think ChaoticFox misses the point.
“When your natural voice requires a robotic synthesizer to keep you from sounding like nails on a chalkboard, I think you deserve a little flak.”
Yeah, because they didn’t use a robotic synthesizer to make her sound like who she’s portraying. Y’know, A ROBOT.
@DonnyKD
I certainly am missing the point, because I can’t even tell what point you’re trying to make. It practically sounds like you’re agreeing with me.
i love that loading screen it may not have much but its awesome
