Majority of Polled Want Variety
The results of the latest TSSZ News @Issue poll indicate a majority of respondents would prefer the portable edition of Sonic Generations to be well-rounded, and not exclusively focus on Sonic’s portable series of past and present.
We asked if you prefer that Generations on the 3DS only include stages from Sonic’s portable titles, and leave the console stages to the XBOX 360 and PS3 version. Out of 962 votes. 56 percent voted “No,” while 44 percent voted “Yes.” It’s a double digit split percentage split between the two choices, but not a huge one.
A new poll is now available to vote on. You can discuss the latest poll results below in the comments.

I would’ve personally preferred Generations 3DS to use mainly handheld titles, as it would give it its own flavor. That, and seeing old handheld levels remastered would’ve been cool. But alas, that won’t be happening. Thanks, Iizuka.
Am I the only one who liked the Captain Whisker and Johnny fight in Rush Adventure? That’s my favorite character boss battle, because it was actually lengthy and a bit challenging. I REALLY hope it gets added to Generations.
I hope Generations 3DS has Gemerl, or Gmerl, or G-Mel or whatever in it, he was a great character.
Gemerl was awesome. I hope he returns in future games.
Isn’t Gemerl from Advanced 3?
@Stephan: Yes.
There is only one portable Sonic game now, really? Wow. Thanks Tristian, you are #1 with Sonic Facts. Never stop running.
Why would you guys want console stages for the 3DS version? Are you guys silly?
Remember that we only get crappy 2D gameplay. What if SEGA added Ice Cap Zone to 3DS? Then that would’ve meant that we would never get Ice Cap on 3DS, so be happy the 3DS is getting handheld stages, and we will get the cooler console stages on the PS3 and 360, if SEGA decides to give us Stage DLC, not act DLC :/
So ya, say we got Mystic Mansion or Egg Fleet for 3DS. The stage, overall wouldn’t haven’t been fun, and would’ve been crappy. So be happy, you whiners.
New poll is bullshit.
Sega isn’t INSERTING anything. They’re referencing the events of SCD as important to the upcoming events of S4 – nothing more. All this bullshit about SCD happening between episode 1 and 2 is total horseshit caused by miscommunication and idiotic conjecture.
While S4 is an abomination in and of itself thus far, it isn’t a horrible move to reference past adventures in present ones. Nobody bitched about the Death Egg reappearing in S3 onward.
Where’s the option for “um, they’re not?”
I already know more than half of the people here are gonna select No for the new poll. XD
–I have no idea what you’re talking about, Epi.
Don’t tell Sega’s marketing department about that, ChaoticFox.

@Amuro- Gemerel sucked IMO. He never really did anything in the boss fights, and you only fight him 1-on-1 once, which is no different than the Mecha Sonic fight, so imo, Gemerel seems bland to me. I would really like to see Emerl return, because you guys gotta admit, the Emerl Boss was EPIC. So many advanced, stolen, unique, technices he had. I would LOVE to see Emerl come back as a boss!
@Epi “We asked if you prefer that Generations on the 3DS only include stages from Sonic’s portables TITLES.” where did you get the idea that anyone believed there was only one portable game?
I think that one console-exclusive title would have been good (GHZ was also on GG). Just Emerald Coast plz. All the other 5 stages should have been from the portable titles.
@Tristan
That trailer was pretty stupid and half-baked. I get that it could have sent the wrong message to someone trying to read too much into things, but the matter has since been clarified. It’s an independent trailer, not an exposition on canonical timelines.
@KnucklesChaotix – I doubt that was Emerald Coast. That was most likely Neo Green Hill from SA1. Sonic Team just probably put the whale part in it for Nostalgia, just like how Seaside Hill has the bars from Sonic 3′s Hydrocity Zone. Even though i really want it to be Emerald Coast, because of their kick-ass music, and gameplay, its most likely going to be Neo Green Hill. Anyway, Emerald Coast should be saved for DLC on 360 and PS3, that way our experience will more fun…….in HD!!!!
Btw Tristan, SEGA isnt inserting CD into Sonic 4. SEGA just wants us to know that there will be some references from CD into Ep.2, like Metal Sonic.
We’ve already seen Casino Night and Emerald Coast so this poll doesn’t really matter any more. xD

“The beloved prequel to Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I”
Ken may have clarified, but then again, Ken is one person and says a lot of things. Until the marketing team at Sega gets their heads straight on the matter and issues something more formal, as far as I’m concerned Sega is using CD as part of the Sonic 4 timeline. (Which, for the record, I never agreed with to start.)

Prequel =/= “insertion into Sonic 4 continuity”. That’s like saying that S3K has been inserted into Sonic 4 continuity, because it has been officially labeled as successor to that game, as well.
Well not being restricted is always a good way to do things, but i do wanna see at least some portable titles on the 3ds version
ChaoticFox: Yeah…it kinda does. IIRC Sonic 4 was supposed to take place directly after S3&K, correct?
I mean, if you’re a canon buff…moves like these ought to make your head hurt.

Prequels don’t have to occur immediately prior to sequels in the canonical timeline. Sonic 1 is “technically” as much of prequel to Sonic 4 as SCD is. The reason the word “prequel” is even used in this case is because Sega’s trying to draw a connection between the two storylines, CONTENT-WISE, not place-in-timeline-wise.
I suppose all this remains to be seen, but it still seems to me like people/this poll are just putting words into Sega’s mouth based on their own shaky misinterpretations of a few ambiguous sentences.
Why would you want zones that originated on the Genesis, Dreamcast, or any home console for that matter to be exclusive on a handheld system?
I KNOW Iizuka wanted no Game Gear levels in it (although that’s a stupid desicion as they ARE a part of Sonic’s portable history). I KNOW I’ve seen the new fottage with SOME updates to the physics (although some level designs were ripped out from the original versions) and the gameplay is looking decent at best.
I’m not saying the 3DS version is going to be shit, but Casino Night, Laucnh Base, Mushroom Hill, and Emerald Coast would’ve been brillant on the 360/PS3 versions. Again, it’s just my opinion.
Regrading the new poll, Sonic 4 preety much screwed the timeline on the Classic series.
Well, I voted no, but honestly, I couldn’t care less. Not like I’m getting it.
@KillerBunny if your not getting it and you don’t care then why the heck did you vote in the first place?
@ QuietGuy92 : I’m sorry for not agreeing with you but I’m looking forward to playing Casino Night, Big Arm (launch base), and Mushroom Hill. Those are my favorite zones I’m not gonna pay to buy a PS3 or an Xbox360 just to play Generations. So how about being considerate to those sonic fans that are also nintendo fans to get a chase to play redesign/re-imagined levels from the genesis.
Egg Fleet would be cool, that’s my Favorite Level from Heroes, I hope it’s in Generations( Not as a Level, but as a Cameo like Flying Battery)
So i would say maybe sprinkle in a few hand Held levels.
I’m kinda indifferent with Sonic CD being part of Sonic 4….
Grew up loving Sonic CD and suddenly Sonic 4 come along…. gotta see how Sega put this together.
BTW when are we gonna hear that new remix of Sonic Boom again, that Crush 40 and the guy from Cash Cash played at Sonic Boom 2011?
They should at least include one Advance series level and one Rush series level. That would be fair.
@tommy: hopefully one advance boss and one rush or colors boss.
