Says to Look for “A Whole New Adventure” After Generations
An interview published by Pocket Gamer focuses squarely on Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka as he, the team, and parent company Sega prepare to release Sonic Generations.
Iizuka again reiterates the stage selection for Generations, and also hints such recreations are a one-time deal. But he also explains the process of outsourcing some recent Sonic titles, only to try and reclaim control over quality issues:
[....] Originally it was more or less the same team working on all the different Sonic titles, but after a few years, for various reasons, we started to delegate Sonic games to different groups of people.
And everyone in the office has their own idea of what Sonic should be, so we started to see slightly varied, slightly different directions of Sonic games.
I was conscious of this, so I’m now back with full responsibility of all things Sonic. I have control over the direction of not just Sonic Generations, but all the Sonic titles that we will develop in the future.
So I have more control, and hopefully this will provide better appearances for future titles.
Iizuka also hinted at the future of the franchise, and while classic Sonic gameplay fans should be satisfied, there was, perhaps, a hint dropped for modern fans to get excited about:
Sonic Generations sort of acts as the end of one period. After Sonic Generations, we will work on new Sonic titles. There’s going to be a whole new adventure, of course.
For the digital and mobile space, we have Sonic 4 – Episode 1 is already out, and we’ve already started creating Episode 2.
We’re going to continue to explore the reimaginationing of classic Sonic, but at the same time we will also keep looking into the gaming space around modern Sonic games.

Jesus Christ! Everyone is soo angry and on edge. How about everyone just go out and get laid, have some fun, or whatever and come back with a better attitude about the situation. Because I sure am!
And BTW why do ppl seriously want SA3 soooo bad? Is it just for the pure nostalgia or just is it something different? I can’t…figure it out

The reason people want SA3 is because
1. They want 3D gameplay
2. They want dark, hard-to-understand story lines.
3. They want other playables.

I’m not angry. And I don’t think anyone else here is either (except for A123, but rightfully so.). I think we’re all just shocked at how much of a shameless flip-flop in the topic that was from just horribly sexist, formless, and hateful insults to begging for forgiveness (no offense, Ricardo, that’s just how it is :/). I think from now on, we should all JUST talk about what THE NEWS ARTICLE IS ABOUT. NOT MAKE IT AN EXCUSE TO BASH ANYONE AND BE TROLLISH, SEXIST, OR HATEFUL IN ANY WAY. @Ricardo yea but it kinda got cut short when her mom came home xD. But back to the topic…those 3 reasons sound exactly like Sonic 06 to me lol. People’s opinions or complaints are always goin to change with each new game. When 06 came out everyone wanted Sonic to be the only playable character so SEGA gives us Unleashed and colors with Sonic only being playable and NOW everyone wants the rest of the characters to be playable. SEGA must be soo confused

@Renzy and BrandonTH – The reason people start fights, is because other people give them attention. Just like Haru, when he criticized “Sonic before the sequel – fan game” by saying “this game has no platforming, its bad, etc.” Then other people(I forgot who) gave Haru attention by saying stuff like “be quiet the game is awsome, SHUT UPP!!,etc.”
From now on (and I suggest you guys do this too) that whenever some person criticizes somethings, or talks bad about something, to just ignore it, and not give the person any attention, because if you do, it will result in a pointless battle.

@stephan I am NOT trolling, i became a sonic fan starting with sonic adventure 2, and since then ive played every sonic game including the older ones with the exception of sonic shuffle, and sonic 06, i found the characters lovable and made the gameplay and story line have more meaning, my favorite sonic character of all time is Cream, and id love to see more of her in the games, Sonic is to straightforward and boring, without having other characters around to show his attitude in contrast.
I don’t know about you all, but Classic Sonic being “reimagined” sounds kina cool (if done correctly). I’m glad we might just see Classic Sonic again, even after Generations. Let’s hope Sonic will retain something though, his success (with critics)!
Heres a great idea, see as how Sega’s to damn retarded to realize quality. How about you people (Sega) start by taking your bad ass graphics that you wasted on 06, unleashed and the other various failures, and try REMAKING Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. You dumb asses can start there. Reason? Maybe after youve done that, you will realize just why in the hell we all want a Sonic Adventure 3! Christ you guys wasted the time to make 06 with the same goddamn roamability of Sonic Adventure but you wont REMAKE Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2? I see know why the hell you guys got out of the console development. How about taking a step back and seeing where you accomplished, and quit trying to pull off a Nintendo on us! As a developer myself, I go by what I believe the people want. And in my expert opinion, THATS WHAT GAMES OUGHTA BE FOR!
