A Little Bit of Everything to Review
Unfortunately, if you were hoping for a better look at the recently unveiled Sky Sanctuary Zone from Sonic Generations, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
But our correspondent at TGS, Danny Russell, has these to pass along: The newest from the press assets Sega of Japan released from the game. They are in the gallery below, and you will notice they are overwhelmingly from the 3DS version, covering Mushroom Hill and Casino Night. You’ll also see the first glimpse of what the 3DS’s “hub” world equivalent is.
Danny is gathering more information from the TGS and we’ll have updates here as they come in.

Wait, whats the zone right of Green Hill on the zone select screen?
That would be Casino Night…
What are those circles over the acts? There’s 11 circles, so it can be the zones, maybe they are missions and more acts?
The 3DS version is looking even worse… :/ just look at that lazy level select screen. yuck.
Anyways….
Chilli Pup? I want that restaurant to exist now…
@Dan
so…it looks “worse” because of the level select?
NOT SURE IF SERIOUS…
@Dan
Well, it isn’t that much different to the console one really
The crazy truck looks creepy when looking closely.
@lolwut
those are collectable things, they were in colours and secret rings (not sure what they were called) but they unlocked stuff in the extras menu, and in colours’ case, they added 2 player mini games, and when you completed them all you could be super sonic in the regular levels
There is a locally famous hot dog place in Los Angeles with a name remarkably similar to Chili Pup’s…I forgot what it’s called though.
Wait, 11 spaces?
Does that mean 11 zones or 11 extra acts/missions for every zone?
Damn that skateboarding classic sonic pic looks beast
@Dan
The levels are looking much better which makes the 3DS version good. However, I do agree that the level select screen needs some work. What is more worrying about that version is notice how the Green Hill Zone is missing a boss level in the level select which means either the boss was not finished on time for the demo or that every era will only have one boss, which would seriously suck.
Chili Pup “the hottest dog in town”. That’s an awesome billboard.
I just found my new screensaver… The Chili Pup billboard… XD
@AM
Even if there’s more than one boss per era, who said that the Green Hill Zone boss made the cut? There’s no boss for Green Hill in the console version. lol There’s no Spider Troop: Big Foot boss at the end of City Escape. =p There’s no Egg Hawk boss either. They just select random bosses. lol
The Egg Hawk Boss was for Seaside Hill in Sonic Heroes btw. lol
@FoxBoy: that would suck cause then Sonic 1′s one claim to representation is Green Hill. Though Sonic 3′s only representation is Big Arm as well. I’m beginning to believe that the console version ignored Sonic 3 cause in the video were Sky Sactuary is revealed the televison screen only says Sonic & Knuckles.
In the Console version, there’s 9 Zones (with 2 Acts each) across 3 eras and only 2 bosses per era: 1 Rival Boss, 1 Major Boss. Then there’s the Final Boss, bringing the boss count to 7. I’m going to guessing it’ll work similarly for the 3DS version, despite it only having 7 Zones. Also, it seems like the 3 Rivals will be shared between the 2 versions like Green Hill Zone, but are fought in different stages; for example: Classic Metal Sonic is fought in Stardust Speedway from Sonic CD in the console version, but he’s fought in Casino Night Zone from Sonic 2 in the 3DS version.
@ Ophelia
Makes sense… I read somewhere that City Escape was designed after Los Angeles… Maybe this is a ‘tip o the hat’ to that certain restaurant?
Good find!
Worst image displaying software EVER.
@Tom
AGREED * 10000.
@Leon_Rios:
You mean San Francisco actually.
@Leon_Rios
Adventure 2′s cities are based on San Francisco, actually.
I thought that sounded wrong…
Thanks. I knew I missed something somewhere.
*FACEPALMED*
@FoxBoy
I know the bosses are kinda random for both the console version and handheld version, but I wish they paid more attention to them, and I realize that for that era the Green Hill Zone boss did not make the cut because we are getting Big Arm. Bosses in Sonic games were some of the most epic ones ever and I think they should get better treatment. I mean we are only getting 1 boss per era (plus maybe a rival boss) and no mini bosses. Anyways, I realize they might be tight on time and as much as I care about bosses in Sonic games I can easily look past this at this point.
lol, The Chili Dog logo for City Escape is hilarious.
guys, new pic of shadow, it has the same shoe paint thing: http://images.wikia.com/sonic/images/e/ea/200px-Stewie_Griffin.png

Actually, that pic is from the M&S at the London 2012 Olympic Games, not from Generations…
