Though Hez may not have a booth at SAGE, that has not stopped him from releasing the next revision of “Sonic Classicon Sonic Retro late last night. As the name would imply, this revision of Sonic Classic adds 16:9 widescreen support to the game, in addition to another round of bug fixing and polish. As is tradition with Sonic Classic, the game comes in two flavors, a 150mb+ download with all of the music, and a significantly smaller file minus the game’s soundtrack.

Hez does offer this warning for Windows 7 users:

You MUST put the Sonic Classic folder and files in a read AND write place. This means you can’t put it in Program files if your using Windows 7 because that is a read only folder and you will get errors when trying to do time trials or save.

For those of you holding off until a more stable release of the game came around, this might be the version of Sonic Classic you’ve been waiting for.
