A Disc of Originals, a Disc of Nakamura, A Disc of Dreams
The website VGMDb has updated their listing for the Sonic 1 & 2 Soundtrack with the expected cut sheet for all three CDs. We’ve relayed the list below.
In summary, the first disc will contain the 42 finished, synthesized tracks from the first two Sonic games, including the 1Up stinger, the title themes, and an “Unused Song” which we assume is Hidden Palace Zone from Sonic 2. The second disc contains 38 of Masato Nakamura’s original demo compositions for both games, including his rendition of that “Unused Song” and a “Theme of Sonic the Hedgehog” demo. If you were hoping for long mixes from Nakamura’s demos, it doesn’t appear that will happen. The third disc contains both English and Japanese versions of Sweet Sweet Sweet from 1992 and the 2006 Akon mix.
Take a look below. If you’re interested in pre-ordering the set, you still can through our merchant partners at CDJapan or your preferred import retailer.

I want this!
But I cant ;_; Someone needs to upload this.
Unused Song is “HPZ” I suppose? Unless there is a super-secret Unused Song Zone. That would be epic.
If you were hoping for long mixes from Nakamura’s demos, it doesn’t appear that will happen
Says who? Are the tracks’ running times listed @ VGMDb?
ChaoticFox: They are not, but do the math. 38 tracks on MAYBE an 80 minute CD? 7 of the 38 won’t be super long so….maybe 2:30 a piece?
Maybe I just don’t consider 2:30 long.
-T
LOL! Well, 2:30 can’t be “long” by any standards for any kind of activity.
@Tristan
That’s four tracks shorter than the “main” CD!
2:30 may not be that long, but it’s pretty standard length for your average “regular” song.
Your article lead me to wonder if the demos were going to end up being super short, unfinished compositions or something, but at a hypothetical 2:30 it seems like they would feel just as fleshed out as the official tunes, so I’m not worried.
LMFAO!
AKON MIX!?
So the soundtrack would run for 2:30? That’s nice but here’s one thing:
Did Masato really have to include the HORRIBLE remixes of Sweet Sweet and Sweet Dream from Akon? First time I heard both tracks in Sonic 06, I felt like my ears were bleeding.
Sega/Sonic Team, if you’re thinking of bringing Sweet Dream back for Generations, just keep the original intact, okay? Heck, I’d be surprised if Masato made a remix for the game.
@DoctorEggman
…
You sicken me.
On a more mature note, listening to Escape From The City only takes 2 and a half minutes. I don’t consider that a ‘short’ song.
Would anyone agree that maybe the Unused Song is from Genocide City? At the very least, that’s how I was introduced to it, on YouTube. Can’t find the video anymore, though.
I’m guessing the “Unused Song” on disc one is Hidden Palace Zone.
What the heck? When I heard that the tracks might not be long I was thnking something like 15 seconds to a minute. 2 and a half minutes is pretty long to me for LEVEL MUSIC THAT LOOPS! That’s around the length or a little shorter than the average song in general. lol
Heck, with the music being that long you have plenty of room to edit your own loop of the song to post extended versions. lol
Want.
guys, just download Audacity to loop the songs if they are considered too short.
Was able to preorder this before they ran out, and also got the Sonic CD soundtrack. Can’t wait to hear ‘em!
