White: I Wasn’t Approached by Sega to Voice Generations’s Classic Sonicby Tristan Oliver October 10, 2011
“No Truth at All” to Webber’s Words, He Says on Twitter
You may remember a couple days ago an odd story we reported, in which Sonic Generations associate brand manager Aaron Webber hinted that Sega approached Jaleel White, who voiced Sonic in the related television series of the 90s, to give classic Sonic a voice in Sonic Generations. At the time, we weren’t sure if Webber was serious in the remark or toeing the line between kidding and trolling.
It turns out it may be the latter. The folks at Saturday Morning Sonic actually reached out to White via Twitter. The actor responded, assuring he knew nothing of the inquiry.
“No truth at all,” was White’s terse reply.
The original author of the Kotaku article from where this nugget emerged, Stephen Totilo, wrote Sega was seeking White’s voice, but “could not get him,” in the author’s words.
