Launching with Sonic Generations

Alternative gaming news website Game Set Watch is reporting that Sega is aimed to partner with Youth UpRising and KaBoom to design a playground in East Oakland, California. Some of the 400 kids that frequent the area will also assist in designing the layout of this playground, which will be constructed with the help of Sega’s own volunteer workforce and the local community.

The playground will be constructed in a single day on October 28th, with it opening for children to play on it on November 1st, the same day Sonic Generations launches in North America.

Youth UpRising is an organization dedicated to providing children with safer, more proactive ways to grow emotionally and express themselves. By 2009, nearly 3,000 children benefited from the program, with an average of 75% having discovered ways to better their community. KaBoom, on the other hand, recognizes the healthy benefits of children at play, and strives to provide playgrounds to communities that may not have them otherwise.
