Modern Green Hill Playable This Week, Next Week for Some
This morning, Sega Europe made official news that broke over the weekend from France, which claimed a second demo for Sonic Generations would hit XBOX Live and PSN this week.
At this point, we only know what we know from the press release, and that only states European gamers will see modern Green Hill Zone drop this Wednesdaytomorrow now according to a late Sega blog update. UPDATE: The same October 18th release date will hold true for XBOX Live users only in North America. According to the Sega blog, PSN users have to wait until next week, October 25th.
You’ll note the press release reiterates a release timetable of November for the 3DS version, quelling rumors of a delay to 2012 that broke Friday.
LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (October 17, 2011) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. & SEGA® America, Inc., today confirmed that a second demo is being released prior to the launch of the highly anticipated Sonic Generations™ game for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
The first demo, released on June 23rd 2011 – the anniversary of Sonic’s 20th year – allowed fans to play as Classic Sonic only. Now the second demo means fans can finally play as Modern Sonic – as well as Classic Sonic again – in the stunning environments of the iconic Green Hill level from Sonic Generations™. Demo #2 for the game will be available via XBLA and PSN on 19th October for Europe.
Gamers will be able to get their hands on the full game on the 4th November when Sonic Generations™ finally hits stores for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC digital download. Sonic Generations™ PC boxed product and the Nintendo 3DS™ system will be released later in November 2011.

Yo Tristan, SEGA has updated their blog. The Demo’s coming out tomorrow, Oct. 18th.

The PSN release is still Oct. 25th in North America, though.
@Stephan well that’s true, but I just think that all of that protesting and petitions are just gonna fall on Deaf ears. Ppl are even beggin Capcom to put Megaman in Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3.
Sweet. I got a new (actually used) 360 recently. Can’t wait to play what’s hopefully a newer build of Green Hill Zone for classic and modern without the PS3′s input lag.
@HawkleyFox if you got some talented people together you could make MML3 a reality.
It would take a while though.
@krazeeKidd102 apparently the input lag has been fixed on the ps3 version, so both versions are identical.
THIS is why I own a 360 instead of ps2.
Tomorrow? I wish it was on Wednesday…I have an early dismissal that day…=/
Also, does anyone know what time the XBL Marketplace updates in the US?
WTF? everyone is just confusing the psn release….
is EUR getting the PS3 demo today or not
EU PSN and US Xbox live users, get it the 18th
Damn, no PC demo! BALLSACKS, SEGA!!!
“EU PSN and US Xbox live users, get it the 18th”
No.
PSN Europe update only wednesday, day 19
actually SEGA tweeted both demos will be released today, but i got a 360 too so its a win both ways, but i wanna play the ps3 demo more for some reason
Yay!
@HeatPhoenix
Thank you for your dispassionate response to my comment.
@Everyone else, you’re all probably right. There probably are no parallels to be drawn between the two games. It is just not at all common for a game to have a demo before it even has a release date; Made me raise an eyebrow. Please excuse my silly conspiracy theory.
And regarding MML3, since I seemed to kick up a little discussion on it: It was unfortunate how Capcom handled things, especially after garnering so much fan support for the game. There is no shortage of developers who would love to see it continued, though. Inafune himself and CyberConnect2 both showed interest in continuing the game. In the end though, Capcom would be the one to publish it, and they had to ask themselves: Would a sequel to a niche title from a relatively unsuccessful spin-off franchise, released on the floundering 3DS, be profitable for them to publish?
It appears they said “no”.
its odd its the 19 i have a ps3 and im in europe and its not on psn someone help me
PSN working yet?
