North American PSN demo coming October 25th
That’s right, the Sonic Generations demo is coming a day early according to a SEGA blog post. The release is for North America and Europe through Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network, with the PSN demo still set for a October 25th release in North America.
The stage being featured is still the same: Green Hill Zone, with Classic and Modern Sonic. Regarding time of release, it has not been mentioned, so any confirmations will be added to this post as soon as we hear them (so stay very, very tuned!).
Will you be playing the demo, or do you want to be as fresh as you can be on release? Are you excited to see how Modern Sonic plays? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
Maybe this time, there won’t see a slew of leaks.

See this is why ps3 will always be better no gold memberships. EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Chris idiot
Some one please help I made a new account but it would not give me gold please help
I haven’t read every comment yet, but I can answer two questions before I go back and replay the demo 50 more times.
1) The demo is awesome.
2) There seems to be no expiration date warning like the last demo had.
Sonic Generations credit theme has been ripped from the demo
I’m angry, frustrated and upset, I woke up at 5:15 just for the demo(I live in Australia) and it’s not up, I spent 4 hours waiting yesterday, I was really excited when I got home from school yesterday just to find nothing! And it’s almost 7:00am here. WHERES THE PSN DEMO!
@Sophie……………….you should really learn to read the articles before jumping the gun.. the article PRETTY DAMN CLEARLY STATES that the PSN demo is releasing OCTOBER 25TH!
@cdrom1019 I believe Sophie is insinuating that they have a European PSN, and it’s still not up there either, and the release date is today for that one in Europe. October 25th is only the release date for the North American demo.
In the first demo. Sonic roll loosing speed.
Now, sega fix the roll and gain speed without spindash?
@HMG Honestly, I missed the part where sophie said Australia, but on the same token, Australia ISN’T Europe.
@cdrom1019 I know Australia isn’t Europe XD But it’s quite possible to have a European account even if you aren’t in Europe (I have a North American, Europe and Japanese one and I live in Canada) Just pointing that out XD
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m kinda disappointed with this game from just this demo: 1st off – levels are WAY too short (maybe that’s just cause it’s a demo?), 2nd – Classic Sonic’s Green Hill has a way too complex background. Half the time, I couldn’t concentrate on where Sonic was! I prefered the original Green Hill Zone to this one. 3rd – Still no rankings after the levels? I know it’s a demo, but come on!
The only things I like so far are the remixed music (always great in Sonic games), the spectacular graphics and art design, Modern Sonics control ( a lot tighter), and the Modern level in general, which works pretty well and has a lot of variety (except for the short length). I hope some things change in 2 weeks!
I think the demo is amazing. I haven’t been this blown away by a Sonic title in a long time, and its undeniable proof that when Sonic Team makes a Sonic game thats actually about Sonic, they can come up with something amazing.
Unfortunately there is a section of the fanbase that would disagree, but I think this is objectively the best 3D Sonic ever, if not the greatest Sonic game ever.
Those horrible Unleashed/Sk6 memories are already fading :’)
The levels are long enough, and nothing is changing, the game is 100% completed and most likely being shipped to stores a week from now.
Any news on the eur demo for psn the wait is killing me
@Chocoburger The demo clearly states right before the Sega logo, and I quote: “This demo is based on a product under development and does not reflect its final quality.” I’m sure some things are changing.
@hlm3
You know the first level in the game probably isn’t going to be the longest, Green Hill is more or less a tutorial level, to show you the ropes (which is why it’s perfect Demo material). If you watch some of the previews for other levels, they’re A LOT more involved~
@HMG That’s true, and I guess it makes sense to be a tutorial level, but it’s still one (if not) the most defining Sonic moment, being the first Sonic level ever, so it would have been nice to be a little longer for the nostalgia.
What’s with people calling Green Hill a tutorial stage? Sea Gate now that is a tutorial, you can go two steps without being stopped by Omochao for an explaination. This is a proper first level with the nostalgic value. The original Green Hill was never a tutorial, you learned as you went along. = New Super mario bros wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Sonic Colors don’t have a tutorial as there first stage and this isn’t any different.
@Timothy : I’m talking about the context of Green Hill in Generations, not in the series as a whole~ Though I do agree that it could’ve been longer, I’m just saying in the context of this game in particular, it’s more or less the tutorial stage, letting you get a hang of the game mechanics.
When I say tutorial I don’t mean “stop and listen” tutorial. I mean just getting the hang of things.
You guys forgetting that GHZ in the original Sonic games had short acts as well? Let that be a nod to your nostalgia. At least GHZ isn’t annoyingly short like some acts in Sonic Colors were. Also, you’ll get to see more things in GHZ when you play the full game and check out the mission acts.
Yeah, even Classic Green Hill in this game is longer than Green Hill Act 1 in either Sonic 1.
The new drift feature is my favorite part by FAR
so is it still not up on PSN eu? I can’t see it.
@ChaoticFox
That was in since Unleashed.
The Unleashed drift sucks colossal ass. The new spin-dash drift works 100x better, and is 10,000x cooler. It also kills enemies. Win.
it seems that way I checked this morning and there was a whole lotta nothing up on the eu psn @ blues
@ChaoticFox
Unleashed drift gave you near unlimited boost if you could work it.
It’s pretty good. Still room for improvement always though.
But thanks to Sony I still can’t try the goddamn demo.
I wonder what time the demo will drop for eu today then? also the Title really needs to be changed seeing as how it is no longer reflecting the truth
Heh. This is what i found in generations xbox360 demo.
object/stage/casinonight/flipper etc etc etc….
Man I made an European account yesterday night but it wasn’t then I checked online today and it says the European Playstation Store updates every Wednesday so we may not be getting the game until later tonight anyway. I bet the Sonic Generations Demo wasn’t released in North America like everybody else because of the hacking that people did to get extra information out of it.
Well that depends that GT5 demo thing was added yesterday about 10AM my time so if they do update it again I think it would be around 10AM GMT -6 central time
Well, Sony says the demo isn’t ’till tomorrow, Thanks a lot Sony [Sarcasm].
Where is your source for saying the demo won’t come out till the 20th?
OMFG DOUBLE POST BUT THE DEMO IS OUT! you have to search it via S
Wait, nevermind. It says it’s today
YES YES
PSN demo is out! Loving it
@Heat
Pretty sure you only get a boost bonus from drifting in the Wii version. And if I remember correctly, the controls in that game made the drift easier to control.
Like you said it’s useful “if you could work it”, but it was a major pain in the ass to do so, at least in the 360 version. Generations’ drift is so damn nice. I use it when I don’t even need it, just for the sheer awesomeness.
53% (Euro PSN)
Man Modern Sonic’s gameplay is WAY better than the Unleashed gameplay (Both versions are fun to play but Generations is very well perfected). The Air boost is not as strong and the Unleashed though and it takes up more Boost Energy but its really not that noticeable really. The combo tricks are awesome in this game I mean seriously people they have poses from all of the previous Sonic games ( for example if you tilt the control stick right or left than Sonic will do one from Sonic Unleashed and if you tilt backwards he’ll do one from Sonic Colors). Sonic move smoothly from one side to another without any lag from the controller. All and all great job and great game Sega and Sonic Team
ENJOYING MY ASS OFF AT THE DEMO. HELL YEAH.
@ChaoticFox
You’re right this boost is WAY AWESOME.
I don’t think ill ever be able to stop playing this demo.
I got Xbox Live just for this demo
this is what I thought of modern and classic sonics green hill.
Classic: I’m a modern fan, but that was VERY FUN!
Modern: LOVED IT!! It’s like playing sonic unleashed 2!!! The 3D was AMAZING and I loved how they brought the homing attack without having to be near an enemy back!
But if i was to complain about anything it would be that sonic seemed TOO restricted. It’s like the stage prevents you from losing. There was nothing wrong with the bottomless drops in previous games, sega just had perfect opportunities to add them
(EX: when sonic was on the bridge). Also sonic seems slower than how he was in sonic unleashed.
Also the graphics are sooooo good! I thought sonic unleashed had awesome graphics. But this game is a masterpeice!
