See How Shocked Archie Panel Attendees Were
Though our camera malfunctioned at the mere sight of metal Sally Acorn’s reveal at last Sunday’s Archie Sonic / Mega Man panel from New York Comic Con, there were more than a few fans that had tape rolling.
One of the captures was actually picked up by the official Archie Comics Twitter feed Thursday, and we’ve relayed it here. It’s from Youtube user Megapower124, and the action starts 20 seconds in. We weren’t kidding when we said the reveal was quite a shock to those in attendance. But that shock quickly turned to applause, following by comic writer Ian Flynn quipping, “That just happened.”
You’ll also hear someone, possibly the camera operator, audibly say they did not see the move coming, though they probably should have.

What the hell! Never expected that Sally look good roboticized……
I don’t know but to me it didn’t really feel like a OMG kind of moment it was like OH, oh well, cue applause kind of moment
I’m still mega pissed by this. Don’t really care what anyone says and I don’t feel up to diving into it since everybody seems to want to shit on Sally fans.
@ Haru: This isn’t meant to be a joke, but its up to the sally fans now to let this live. I mean the writer can do all they want with the plot but the minute fan reaction kicks in along with poor sales reception you’ll see how fast this will last.

Meh, I’m not exactly happy about this either to be honest. I mean don’t get me wrong: I was indifferent to Sally as a whole, enough to where I was hoping she’d leave the spotlight for a while (it was beginning to annoy me, how much she showed up, I’ll admit it) then it seemed like she might be dead which I didn’t want. But for her to be robotized…I dunno. It just bothers me. I guess because she’s been there a while and then that happens. And somehow I just *know* there’s going to be more drama associated with her being a robot, which makes me want to facepalm a bit. The design is pretty nice though, I’ll give it that.
I was pissed at first, but I can live with a design like that! That is just… I don’t even… words can not describe the awesomeness that stares me in the face on that cover!
I wonder if Metal Sonic(if he’s still in the comic) is enough similar to the real Sonic to like Metal Sally.
If that happened Sonic would get really really mad.
That is so COOL! If I could ask for anything from the comics to be implemented into the games, it would be this incredible Metal Sally as a playable character.

I don’t know how Sally fans can be pissed off about this. I never loved Sally more then after seeing her in all her robotized glory. C’mon people who doesn’t want to see Sonic get beat up by his girlfriend at least once. Plus, its highly unlikely that this is going to be a permanent change. Enjoy it while it last.

Yeah I suppose. I just GOT BACK INTO THE COMIC thanks to the Genesis reboot and with Sally being there and the others (and the new twist on the story) I was like “Okay, this is cool. I can get into this.” and I love the Sally character. I don’t care much of what happened to her in the comics since I’ve been gone. (last comic I read before this Genesis arc was #150…I think. If even that.) I just know I like Sally so seeing her like this is….

I think her becoming a robot kinda pours the salt on the wound: from what I’ve gathered since I left about Sally IN GENERAL. She seems to be the scapegoat for a lot of the comic’s changes/controversial moves/etc and that’s a shame.
