Get Ready for Some Super Sonic Racing
A lot of what you’ll see in the below video Woun encoded to YouTube from German website GamesWelt will be old hat, as it shows off mostly Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary.
That’s except for what you’ll see at the 1:30 mark, when you get about a full minute of Sonic’s long rumored, nearly mined mission race with Knuckles. There is heavy platforming involved, and something else: A heavy Euro remix of Super Sonic Racing accompanies it all. The update sounds leaps and bounds better than the original, and we suspect many of you can’t wait to hear it for yourself in the clear.
Remember: In North America at least, there are just eight days left until the big launch of Sonic Generations on consoles. Thanks to Woun for tipping and encoding. If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking Send News Tips at the top of every page.

I hope modern vs missions have a mix too. Or maybe something else… Race to win anyone?
Too bad I can’t see it since I am at school. 2 reviews are out.
VideoGamesZone gave it a 8.5
Germany gave it a 8.5

They are good scores nonetheless but they didn’t enjoy the graphics which got a 7. I thought the graphics were absolutely stunning as expected. Looking back at Sonic Unleashed and Colors graphics that is.
Man, Green Hill Zone sure looks great at sunset.
I’ll be super sonic racing to pick up my copy, that’s for sure.
reminds me Sonic Rivals the Knuckles mission
Hahaha, I always loved Super Sonic Racing.
This game is just waaaaay too jam-packed with nostalgia goodness, but in a way that it also feels fresh! I can’t wait to pick this up next monday!
My girlfriend reserved the game for me and will be mailing my copy to me. When, I don’t know, but I hope it’s soon so I have it before my birthday next month.
if this remix made it in, then it should be a no-brainer that Crush 40′s take on Sonic boom will be somewhere in the game! At least thats what I figure!
The Knuckles mission looks cool. The “Super Sonic Racing” remix sounds MUCH better than the original with more feeling and effort put into it. Here’s hoping they’ve remixed “Work it Out” for another mission.
That’s the remix from Sonic Boom!! Complete with the bluesy guitar fills!
I hate that autotuned or whatever voice. It’s so bad, even the original Super Sonic Racing singers were better. The instrumental version is kick-ass though.
Plus, at 1:41 I’m POSITIVE that someone says “Sega Saturn”.
TSSZ Y U ONLY UPDATE WHEN IM AT SCHOOL??
oh well…im gonna have to wait.:/
@QuietGuy:
In my opinion, the original felt like it had more feeling put into it since it didn’t use auto-tune, it sounded more lively/energetic and less robotic to me.
@DoctoreEggman
Probably got a little carried away by the new footage of awesomeness, lol. After listening to it a second time, the instrumental’s great but the autotone completely messed it up.
The original’s good but but Cash-Cash needs to stop singing.
@QuietGuy:
I don’t mind cash-cash once in a while, but it is easy to get fed up with auto-tune. You called it “singing”? LOL!
But this version does put more emphasis on a beat, for better or worse. I don’t mind it for being a remix.
I knew it! I just knew that this remix from Sonic Boom was going in this game! The exact same fate as the Sonic Boom cover by Crush 40! It’s gonna happen! 8D
Well, it *is* a Euro mix.
But MAN, If SEGA had gotten Richard Jaques and TJ Davis back for it…
@Crackers
It would’ve been sweet to hear what those two could’ve done for the remix. And imagine how fantastic things would’ve been if Sega had gotton Naofumi Hataya (composer of Sonic CD and NiGHTS into Dreams) back on board for Generations?
I can imagine musical greatness for everyone’s ears.
So, they actually revealed two Generations songs at Sonic Boom. Not surprised when I first heard that Super Sonic Racing was suppose to be in the game, but delighted that it is in the game.
Kinda wished they used the original song, would’ve had that much more of a nostalgia feeling (and wouldn’t be that auto-tune garbage x.x), but beggars can’t be choosers I suppose. Still cool stuff regardless~
Ummmm I like the remix as much but not better than the original. I love the gameplay tho.
Not too pleased with the way the people are playing considering the review but big whoop. lol
And the graphics, I don’t find them easy to praise. I don’t think they suck but there are certain points where Unleashed did a much better job. But I’m glad to see the graphics are still pretty good. And that’s all I really need if we’re gonna talk about graphics at all.
Nothing tops TJ Davis, Tristan
@Quietguy
For the record, using a vocoder for a digitized sound is not the same as auto-tuning. I’m not saying there isn’t any of that going on, but you have to realize that it’s a stylistic choice in this case.
Endless Possibilities remix Rooftop Run plzkthzbai.
Why Cash Cash? They suck! We want Crush 40!!
I love it how the Knuckles race is a Green Hill zone Sunset setting. Maybe the other missions will have nighttime settings for some levels too. Maybe a nighttime version of Rooftop Run or City Escape. That would be cool
@HMG: LOL! We’re not beggars, man. We’re consumers, most of which are ready to fork over 50 bucks for this piece of goodness, lol. We’d better have a say in the music aspects.
@ChaoticFox: Correct me if I’m wrong, but everytime we hear Cash-Cash it’s with the vocoder/autotune sound. To me, it sounds like he can’t sing for shit, rather than being a choice in style for vocals.
@DoctorEggman
True true, was more a figure of speech when I said that, though I agree with ya entirely~
I believe the concert at the Tokyo Game Show showed us just how much, erhm, “singing talent” Cash Cash has, so I’m hoping the real song is unlockable in some way too XD
@HMG:
I’d love the original to be an option. And if not, you can use music off of the harddive to play in the background. I love playing Sonic Boom to this game’s demo.
LOL! I hear ya, man. They probably assumed the japanese wouldnt be able to tell how bad his singing was.
@Eggman
I downloaded one of their albums (which I very much enjoyed), and there were several songs that at least didn’t SOUND auto-tuned. Definitely not defending that live performance in Tokyo, cause that was fucking TERRIBLE, (then again, most live music is) but at the same time, the guy’s singing “talent” is irrelevant to the point I was making.
Honestly, I’m just sick of people screaming “auto-tune” like it’s the new buzz word. Anything with unnatural sounding vocals is immediately denounced as auto-tuned, regardless of whether that’s actually the case. It’s ignorant, and it makes people look stupid. I saw a comment on one of their videos where people were bitching about auto-tune when he’s literally singing into a vocoder IN THE VIDEO. The narrow-minded stupidity of the masses never ceases to amaze me.
As a side note: Alex (aka. not the dumbass from TGS) performed this version of SSR at Sonic Boom with a vocoder, and I’m pretty sure you can’t auto-tune in real time live performances.
Also, I vaguely recall various previews mentioning the option to change the music. Maybe it’s only a matter of switching between classic and modern tracks in the main stages, but I’m crossing my fingers for the option to choose from any of the unlockable songs (it’d give the unlockables more weight, rather than having them end up as a uselessly glorified sound test).
Optional classic SSR would be lovely. If not, I guess I should at least be grateful it was included in ASR.
Classic Knuckles talks?Didn’t see that coming.Looks like Classic Sonic is the only one that can’t speak..
I agree with ChaoticFox, people are just looking for something to bitch about. It’s not even auto-tune. :/
@ QuietGuy: Yeah, that would’ve been awesome! Naofumi Hataya composed Ocean Palace, and since the song is in Generations he shoulda helped out. xD
I’m not entirely certain if that’s Classic Knuckles or Modern Knuckles. I hope he’s classic
Also, They should have added the vocal track from the original Sonic R X( They were better. But oh well. It’s still going to be a fantastic game ^ ^
CLASSIC KNUCKLES IS PINK AND HIS SOCKS ARE THE WRONG COLOR. lol
@ChaoticFox
You’re right about them wanting the remix to be more stylish. It’d probably take a few couple of listens until I’m enjoying the remix. Same thing happened with Reach for the Stars/Speak With your Heart from Colors and the Classic remix for City Escape.
@Crackers
As much as I am fond of Jun Senuoe and loved what he did for Generations’s soundtrack,
Sega should’ve recruited him for maybe two or three remixes.
@Quietguy
Different styles appeal to different people, I guess. I loved all of those songs from the get-go
This SSR mix is the only one that’ll take some getting used to, but I guess that’s just because I loved the Sonic R soundtrack so much XD
@ChaoticFox
…He’s pink?! *watches the video closely*
@Stephan
Not in this video, I just meant in general. So if he’s not pink, he’s not classic. Technically
@ChaoticFox
So Classic Tails isn’t really Classic because of his lemon-yellow color? XD
Its M. Knuckles and werehog is in this game also which is not bad..
Sadly Im at school, and youtube is blocked u.u
WELL atleast I get out in less that half an hour!
Can’t wait to see this video
Finally the remix from Sonic Boom
and Knuckles looks red to me.
Ok so cash cash has a new music in the game and it’s a remix of super sonic racing then crush 40 better have new music in here too. I don’t want cash cash hogging up the theme songs again like on colors
but the new remix of super sonic racing still sounds good. But crush 40 is the king of sonic music of what modern sonic is and cash cash should remain as the king of sonic music of what classic sonic is.
Everyone wants crush 40′s new songs in there and that’s a simple fact.
@Stephan
Not accurate classic
But really, Knuckles didn’t really undergo a radical redesign like the other characters did. So, short of going back to his original color scheme, there’d be no way to distinguish between a classic and modern Knuckles, besides looking at their pupils. lol
He was red on the artwork but pink in the game, right?
This song used to be my entire life. Ever since I had a Sega Saturn and Sonic R and know in this game they brought back one of the best Sonic songs ever devised. I think that this version is more upbeat and catchy but the original will always have a place in my heart. Also the Knuckles Side Mission looks like its fun and the rank seems to be based on how fast you finish the level. I can’t wait to play the rest of them.
@Manic the Hedgehog
Crush 40 is a good band but they’re not the kings of Sonic music. They’re not musical gods either. Just your normal rock band who makes music for a series about a blue hedgehog that runs at the speed of sound.
But judging from your lack of common sense in your posts, you’ll shrug this off and insult me like the immature punk you are.
@ChaoticFox:
Yeah I know what you mean. Still sounds less like singing to me, but it’s good to hear he can sing in a studio as opposed to his on-stage performances. There are alot of good live performances out there, though I’m not sure about the ratio of good/bad ones. I don’t mind the song here though. I just feel it could be better if he put a bit more feeling behind it instead of using a more robotic tone.
