High-Res Shots Part of Tonight’s JP Media Blitz
This evening is actually Wednesday morning in Japan, where various Japanese media outlets have been given dozens of new screenshots from Sonic Generations to share.
Many of you have tipped us citing Famitsu as a source, but we’re going to do one better. In the gallery below courtesy of Andriasang, we actually have higher resolution, non-watermarked shots to share. Let’s get you right to the first batch in the gallery below. This set is of the Shadow rival battle. UPDATE: We’ve added a 12th screenshots of Sonic and Shadow’s dual pose, watermark free, courtesy of Siliconera.
If you haven’t yet looked, be sure to check out the new screenshots from Radical Highway on the 3DS, as well as the more than three dozen new screenshots of Speed Highway on the console version.

Purple Boost?
…dude….I WANT THIS GAME ALREADY. One week to go!
So Shadow has a Ring Spark Field, too?
Interesting. And I’m also wondering what’s up with the purple boost. Maybe it’s an upgrade?
Boost to win, now with grape!
I do believe the pelvic wooing means that you get power-ups (like in the actual Sonic v. Shadow fight). If it is, i fucking called it
First Shadow gets the boost, now Sonic has a purple one? And possible Super Sonic vs Super Shadow!!!! Also, the battle seems pretty interesting…
well that doesn’t appear to be super sonic, but i think sonic just learned chaos blast
the purple boost probably has some thin to do with the “drives” we heard about…
The only possible explanation for the purple boost is Chaos Control :/
the purple boost is from collecting *spoilers* light spears, yah i can’t disclose where i got this info
The last picture with the purple boost looks impressive and Shadow boosting with his rocket skates is a nice touch. And there’s no doubt we’re getting a remix of “For True Story” but it would be cool to hear bits of “Final Rush” and “Final Chase” added to it.
Pink boosting plus pink rocks in the air?
O. M. G. SONIC’S GOING TO USE CHAOS CONTROL. Probably.
You missed one Tristan.

Pluto’s comment is my favorite.
This fight actually looks a bit more involved than the Metal Sonic one. Which is a only shame, because Metal is so much cooler, but I digress
I’m gonna assume the “transformation” shot is actually chaos control, and the purple boost is somewhat related to that.
@Darkgomu
Um… wat? What power ups are you talking about?
@Sanic Holy crap that’s cool!!!!! SA2 throwback indeed! This may turn out to be my fav Rival fight
@Sanic My jaw just broke thru the floor and went all the way down thru the house wen i saw that picture and now its stuck!!! thats an awesome picture!! SA2 NOSTALGIA!!!!
So that wasn’t Sonic transforming into Super Sonic at the end of the Bosses trailer…I wonder if we’ll see that Super Sonic trailer…
I couldn’t resist!!!

This Shadow boss fight looks like it’s a mini level for example that 5th screenshot. It has a trick ramp and grinding rails, and Sonic’s boost is purple because you have to collect power cores and knock those meteorites into shadow. Jacktheinfinite hacked the 2nd demo and Omochao explains all of the boss fights. And they’re all really creative boss fights too
Yea that shot of Sonic supposedly doing something “Super” is exactly from the trailer, as others and myself pointed out. It is chaos energy related, given.
The one on the bottom right column (labelled as Shadow-02) reminds me of a poster used to publicise Sonic 06 called ‘A New Beginnging’

They really should have depicted the moon as being half blown apart. That’s my only nitpick.
I just don’t get it why is Sonic’s boost in the stage purple at points (I really don’t car if its blue or not just wondering). Is it because of those purple orbs that appear on the race track. Please reply.
@Chris read my last comment
Sonic’s boost is purple which is funny. But so are SOME of the rocks and there’s a purple orb thing in the air too which probably causes it.
The “Super Transformations” are OBVIOUSLY NOT Super Forms at all. That’s stupid. There aren’t even any emeralds in the pictures, they never went Super there, and why would they turn Super for the first time in a random rival boss fight but not an actual boss fight where he WAS actually Super in the original? I’m telling you. It’s like Common Sense is endangered or something.
And really? Jacktheinfinite101 hacked this demo too? And my family calls ME obsessed. lmao I don’t even know how to hack a freakin DEMO off of a CONSOLE. I’d probably have to spend money on a buncha confusing equiptment and then somehow learn what the hell I’m supposed to do. Otherwise, why not just.. you know.. PLAY the demo like everyone else and leave it at that? XD (I don’t know why I just view “hacks” as “Sloppy” for some reason.)
@FoxBoy
…hacking the demo isn’t that hard. It’s only slightly more complicated than unpacking a zip file and digging around.
He doesn’t “HACK” a “CONSOLE” either, he just brings the demo file to his PC and digs through it there.
Some people act like the guy is in a dark room with a hundred monitors glowing down on him. Jeez.
@x
Okay, think about it from an average person’s point of view. It might not be hard, but it’s complicated, particularly when you don’t know a darn thing about hacking. For me, personally, I don’t even see HOW to hack the demo. How would someone like me know what to do? All I know is I can pull up the demo on the 360 and play it. I don’t know what to do with it to hack it and I wouldn’t know how to transfer it to my PC. Hacking is like brushing your teeth… TO A HACKER. But that’s because they’ve already soaked themselves in the obsession of messing around with that kinda stuff. I’m suprised that there are people like that under the age of 15 because I wouldn’t know where someone like that would even come across that kind of knowledge. lol
And you say he just brings the demo file to his PC. Well like I said, someone like me wouldn’t know how to do that. How the hell do you take a file from a console and put it onto a PC??? (Rhetorical question. XD)
The point is, to a person who doesn’t mess with that kinda stuff, yes, a dark room with a hundred monitors glowing down on them is exactly what it sounds like. Not saying there’s a problem with that. I’m just pointing out. (Also because I have friends who act like knowing how to do this stuff is common knowledge when it isn’t. Of course I’m talking to people on the internet, so of course to them it is. If I said any of this to someone in real life it’d sound less absurd tho. lmao)
@Foxboy
You know those USB ports on the front of the console?
Put a flash drive in them. Copy the demo onto it.
Copy the demo onto the computer.
????
Profit!
The stuff like switching out Super Sonic and modern/classic codesets are more complicated for sure, but just opening the database and digging around really isn’t rocket science.
@ChaoticFox You remember at the end of each story in SA2 where Sonic/Shadow (whoever you were fighting) they would sometimes do a “time stop” and “chaos spear”? I think you might be able to activate powers of your own this time.
@Foxboy
Your ignorance is actually painful to watch, and your stubborn commitment to it is even sadder.
@Darkgomu
Ah, okay. I remembered that, but when you said “power ups” it made me think you meant for the character you were playing and I was just like “um… no” XD
hmm judging from the 4th, 5th, and the last picture I say Shadow also collects those purple things and if Shadow collects enough of those then he does his special in the 5th picture if Sonic collects enough of those then he does something in the 4th picture
Of course Sonic Team made the Shadow and Silver rival fights more interesting…although that may be because Metal and Death Egg Robo are the first two fights…I hope those two have some better challenges in hard mode. XP
Also, I think this fight goes in laps or something. I don’t know, it just seems like that looking at the layout.
@sonichedgehog I guess it’s because Sonic Team wanted to be true to the classical gameplay by not adding any extras or gimmicks that would tamper the gameplay because they didn’t want to upset the retro fans. While as modern fans wouldn’t mind any gimmicks or extras to be put in the modern gameplay.
I know this is only a boss level, but are there any Artificial Chaos on this level? I swear I thought I saw some in one of the screenshots…
