Some Things Never Change
When we first showed you that slope glitch from the first Sonic Generations demo, many wrote it off, believing for this game it’s simply not integral to the core Sonic gameplay, or that it would be fixed for the final version.
The problem is that in the second demo released this month, despite other noticeable changes and improvements versus the June copy, it hasn’t gone away. Take a look at what’s jokingly being dubbed a Sonic 4 “Easter Egg” by Youtuber Vandelay16. Not only is the same issue cited in August in plain sight, it’s easily repeated…three more times.
To be fair, for Green Hill, at least, it’s not that big a deal, and judging from our original story, most are willing to let it slide here where they wouldn’t with Sonic 4: Episode I. Whether it or any similar matters become a problem in later stages most haven’t played yet remains to be seen.
Take a look below, and offer your thoughts in the comments.

Hah, I lol’d when I watched this video from my subscriber box
Top comment is hilarious too, haha.
That’s actually pretty funny.
kind of ironic and hypocritical in a sense. People are willing to forgive this in Green Hill zone on the console version but go butt wild on Mushroom Hill zone back then when the same hiccup was shown.
This guy’s making a simple, harmless joke about ONE glitch but knowing the purists of the fanbase, they’ll tear this video to sherds.
come on sonic 4 wasnt that bad lol
im okay with this…its not like its gonna bother or kill me, it seems to me like some people make the littlest thing a big deal.=\
What do you expect from SEGA, the same who brought IronMan the video game?
3DS version doesn’t have this problem. U mad?
Lol spider-hog!!!
And seriously making this a big deal is so stupid TSSZ… seriously.
Just wait until a major reviewer catches wind of this and watch the scores go a few points down
@RogerMyers JR
Shut up.
Sonic the Hedgehog:
So cool and so fast, it takes gravity a few seconds to catch up with him.
@QuietGuy
I think he’s just joking.
He also feels less floaty…. who forgot to turn off the 2x gravity?
Here’s a fact to consider however. Commonly inside the industry, most demos and betas are shown over and over again with small changes while the real final code is taken apart and fixed. Ars Technica actually ran a piece on this the other day. Because no one really wants to reassemble a demo or beta code every time a problem is fixed (or a demo is released) while working crunch time on the final code, most often the easiest problems get a quick patch and the public continues unaware of the fact that the final code is a completely different build.
In all likelihood, this is simply the original demo code, slightly modded, while the actual final code is very different. Such differences are the reason why review groups get the “final” copy, not the beta, to review the game. After a famous incident in the early 90s in which PC Gamer reviewed an early build of Outpost, giving it high marks, only to find to their horror that the shipped version of the game was almost completely different.
So I’m not worried. I’ll play the final code.
@Viking ZX Iizuka confirmed that this is the final built.
@Ee he wasn’t that floaty to begin with, he actually feels a little more floaty than the first Demo. Which is a good thing! Don’t want classic Sonic’s jump to feel too heavy
Funny video. I wasn’t expecting the music.
But anyone that panics over this “gltich” that you are seriously going to have to TRY to activate is a buffoon.
But he rolls back down the hill after a couple of seconds… what’s the big problem? It’s not like in ’06 when you could stay there all day.
You really just can’t let it go, can ya?
I’d like to think that it is one of sonic’s many abilities. If he can run up walls then i see no problem with this. Sonic isn’t exactly realistic
Oh sega… why u no get physics right?

3DS version doesn’t have this problem. U mad?”
Nope, because the 3DS version is a lot worse in many regards.
Art thou frustrated?
Lol at the video and the comments.Especially Haru’s “Art thou frustated?”
Ahahahahaha! This video made me laugh, especially when the music kicked in. XD
There are glitches like these in Mario too, most recently Yoshi’s infinite flutter jump, which has a FAR bigger impact than this. Some missions that are normally dead-hard become a piece of cake due to that glitch.
P.S. I’m referring to Super Mario Galaxy 2 here.
3-D platformers, as a genre, are very vulnerable to glitches due to the high amount of things you can do at once (even when in 2-D mode) and how they’re more reliant on physics than most other genres. I think fighting games are the only genre more vulnerable, but testing is more comprehensive for fighting games, so most get ironed out. (Of course, there’s that DHC glitch in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that EVERY high-level player seems to use like 10 times in every match.)
I couldn’t help but have a snigger at that video. I’m fairly sure that if this glitch does occur in the release version it won’t be that big a deal because there will be no instance where it will happen without the player doing it on purpose for the lols.
@Haru:
So you’re saying the 3DS version doesn’t have these glitches, because it sucks?!
…..Hey listen!……………that’s right!……..It’s the majestic sound of no one giving a fuck
@DonnyKD lol
This is not a glitch it is Sonic’s ultimate new ability. The ability to defy the laws of physics!
But seriously the physics seem fine in both this version and the 3DS version, so I’m not too worried about minor glitches like this.
The real problem of generations is 30FPS.
@Lucas Hinz Why? Colours ran at 30fps and it was fine. Unless you’re joking of course. At any rate, U mad TSSZ?
@Pointlessname
I played the demo on 360 and ps3.
360 and PS3 running in 30FPS and cause delay in classic controls. 0.5 or 0.6 miliseconds.
MOONWALKER
Rephrase that…..RICK ROLL’D :>
@Lucas Hinz I think that’s only gonna be a problem for some people because I didn’t really notice it, and I know others who didn’t either. It’s a fair point, but I don’t think it’ll bother everyone.
The fact that *you* people are willing to let this slide for this game but weren’t for Sonic 4: Episode 1 is nothing short of completely hypocritical and baised. If you are gonna let this slide, then seriously? Quit bashing Sonic 4. It’s wrong.
*Poof*
There were clearly a LOT more things wrong with Sonic 4 than a simple procedure that anyone wouldn’t do in a normal playthrough…and even then it’s only for two seconds at that one specific slope.
Oh, by the way, the Sonic Generations Demo is now available to download for Xbox Silver Members and possibly the NA PSN.
I’m currently downloading it now…slowly…14%
Hahahaha, that’s funny.
TSSZ making a big deal out of this as always.
The problem with Sonic 4 wasn’t that glitch alone. It was the combination of that any many other problems that messed it up. In this case, much of that had been fixed, so I’m willing to pardon a single anomaly that will not affect the game much at all.
Right through anomalies…
It’s not a glitch, Sonic’s just too awesome to care about people’s opinions of him being able to stand on walls.
It is interesting to see all of you seemingly unphased at this where, if this title’s name had a number at the end of it, I wonder if a lot more fans would be upset.
Actually, if you’ve been paying attention, this isn’t the only spot in Green Hill where this is possible. Given how classic Sonic’s been a hallmark promoted feature throughout, and there are rumors you actually have to buy improved physics via the in-game shop, I guess I’m a bit surprised to see this being written off as it is.
Meh.

After watching these videos, I see a crucial difference. In Sonic 4, Sonic could stay on the wall for a quite long time. In Generations, he manages to stay on one for 2 seconds, then falls back. So the new version of “problem” is 1) a nice trick, 2) not a major issue.
Sonic generations is awesome!!! of bugs
You know the guy uploaded it for a joke, this was never meant to be taken this seriously. If this is how Sonic 4′s physics were, I’d be quite pleased as it’s a lot better than what we got. As for the physics skill, I don’t really think Sega is that dumb. They have been promoting Classic Sonic from day 1, they wouldn’t make us unlock something we should’ve had in the first place.
