Sonic Generations Sets Record Pre-Orders

Most pre-ordered Sonic title (ever!)

Sonic Generations is out next week and, boy, don’t we all know it. You have probably noticed that the game seems to be everywhere – even sponsoring The Simpons – and Gematsu reports that the title has set record pre-order figures for a Sonic the Hedgehog title since its inception! Though no specific figures were revealed (unsurprisingly) SEGA America’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Alan Pritchard, had this to say:

Sonic Generations is the ultimate title to cap off Sonic’s 20th anniversary and we have put our full support behind it with a number of truly amazing initiatives.

And if you’re wondering what those “amazing initiatives” are, then here are just a few:

Sonic Generations of Skate event: featuring world-famous skaters – even Tony Hawk – the event brought together three ‘Generations’ of professional skaters and got them to compete in groups, according to their age, in singles and doubles. Check out our coverage if you haven’t already.

As we also reported, SEGA have commissioned a Sonic-themed playground. Designed for kids in East Oakland, California, the playground will be sure to instill the sense of excitement the franchise is known for.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade: just as in the early and mid nineties, (classic) Sonic the Hedgehog will be floating through New York City to promote – and celebrate – Sonic Generations. Be sure to check that out if you haven’t already.
