Forget Norway!
We have our first poor review of Sonic Generations, and it comes to us courtesy of Gamereactor’s Norway division, where a 4 out of 10 review apparently compares the game to past titles that have fallen short, including Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Free Riders among others.
Because the review is originally written in Norwegian, it’s easy to get something lost in translation–you can see it translated via Google here. But it appears the piece chastises half the game–the modern Sonic portion–and scoffs off at the classic portion, saying Sonic 4 offers an equivalent experience at a lower price. Control mechanics are also harshly criticized.
It’s not clear if this review or its score will stand across the board, as Gamereactor’s reach spans across Europe. If it does, it’s likely to cut into that Metacritic score and offset at least some of those 8s and 8.5s to bring the average down. We will see.

That’s just Norway. I just checked the Germany, Swedish and Denmark reviews (Italy, Spain and Finland didn’t have theirs yet) and both Swedish and Denmark gave the game 7/10, Germany a nice 8/10. So, I say this review is not to be taken seriously.
I’d say the overall review from Gamereactor is gonna be something about 7.
Its always the negative reviews that are also the most vague. >_>
Who cares about all these “professional” reviews … if the full game is basically the second demo with more levels and cutscenes then I give it a 10/10.

Great choice in the picture selection for the headline. ;p I’m still going to pick up my copy tonight at midnight. I would be getting Uncharted 3 as well, but I lack a PS3.

Generations, on par with Shadow, Free Riders, and S4 with a 4/10? Give me a fucking break.
Sonic Generations looks amazing, fun, and enjoyable despite the physics needing some improvement with only 9 levels confirmed and I’m more interested into playing the MODERN stages since they have the best level design I’ve seen since SA1.
One more thing, Heroes was a decent game at best.

I’d wouldn’t be surprised if Gamereactor gave Super Mario 3D Land a 4/10 and that’s coming from someone who likes both Mario and Sonic.

First 7.5 for “visuals” from CVG and now 4/10 from these guys? What is WRONG with these people?!
I’m not just saying this as a Sonic fan, but a person who loves playing video games in general: There’s practically NO REASON to give this game a low score. If they do they’re either Nintendo/Mario fanboys, trolls, or they never played a real decent game in their lives.

Haters gonna hate but thats all i can say!!! Sonic will keep running no matter how many negative reviews he will get! IMO, this game is just as good as sonic adventure. Notice i didnt say better than sonic adventure but just as good as sonic adventure.
Not sure if this is where I should put it up, but Game Informer gave Sonic Generations a 6.8 out of 10, the second-lowest score I’ve seen for the game.

The main critical points, bizarrely, are that Sonic Generations makes references to the more recent games. He likes the game up to (at least) Sky Sanctuary, for both Modern and Classic Sonic, but hates it from Seaside Hill and onwards.

I don’t really get this, i mean come on, one website alone doesn’t speak for an entire country and I’m pretty sure that there are plenty of Norwegians out there who love the game just as much as we do, it makes no seance just calling out a whole country just because of one website gave their opinion, it’s pointless.

Physics equivalent to Sonic 4? Am I the only one who thinks this the reviewer is some butthurt Adventure fan who’s been living under a ROCK for the past decade and doesn’t even know two things about a Sonic game?
Regardless, I was expecting a negative review. Surprisingly it wasn’t from Destructiod, but at least Sterling at times knows what the hell he’s reviewing, unlike this guy.

I heard somewhere that GameInformer bases their score on what their viewers think the score would be.
Who cares. Generations got some sevens and some eights. It would’ve been worse if we got sixes, fives and fours only.
