“It looks like he was dropped from the final release”
Those in the Sonic research community may have a new mystery to solve. Sonic Retro forumer Mykonos found a noteworthy blurb on the home page of Kyle Hebert this morning. Hebert, for those unaware, is the currently retained voice artist for Big the Cat for the Sonic series.
Hebert’s name was in the credit roll for Sonic Generations but the voice–and, for the most part, the lumbering furball himself–was absent. Hebert says he was called in to do voice lines, but it would appear they never made it in the final product:
Fans have caught my name in the credits for “SONIC: GENERATIONS”. I did voice Big the Cat, however, it looks like he was dropped from the final release. Bummage!
While there remains an outside chance the cat could have a Big-ger presence via DLC (pardon the pun,) one has to wonder if extensive data mining of the game could turn up those lost lines.

Maybe his famous Cameo during the truck chase in SA 2 was gonna be brought back…
But, currently the only appearence of Big is in the supposed-to-be-secret Statue Room.
Maybe he’s in the 3DS version, or there may have been voice/sound clips planned for the trophy room, but was later cut

Well if Big were there as a friend, then we could have a Sonic 3 representation.
I would have liked to see more Big, even just as SA2-esque easter eggs hidden in some of the levels.
Bummer he got cut while someone like Cream managed to nab some spotlight both in the main story AND in mission acts. Fuckin’ Cream – UGH.

Well, Big and Omega, the remaining two characters from Sonic Heroes who didn’t make the cut in the game, do appear as statues… hmm…

BOOOOO! Big the Cat should be standing in front of Speed Highway (his first appearance) and not Crap the Rabbit who’s voice gets worse and worse with each new voice actress. So other than seeing his name on the Speed Highway billboard and in the Team Rose image during the credits, anything else Big-related? I haven’t typed in any of the statue passwords yet. I’d like to know if they are legitimately unlockable first or not.

Sega gave him his own playable appearance in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing so I’m not sure they left him out because people were complaining.
Still, he got a trophy so at least there was some representation.

There’s a rumor that Takashi Iizuka is my uncle. There is nothing to nothing that says the manga is based on the 3ds verison. Plus by now it nearly set in stone that the only important characters that the are in the 3DS version are Classic and Modern Tails, Classic and Modern Eggman, Classic Metal Sonic, Shadow and Silver.
I don’t like Big so it really doesn’t affect me in the general sense but I do feel for his voice actor, so much time put in and he’s work isn’t shown. Hopefully he got paid though.

People hate Cream just as much as Big, but they still manage to shove her into every game, constantly down our throats like they do with Big. At least they dialed down Shadow a lot over the years. Cream and Big just gets shoved deeper every time.

Huh. Now I’m starting to wonder of those statues of Big, Omega and Jet were meant to represent more than just a cameo. Hm. But then again, was Vic Mignogna’s name in the credits anywhere?
Oh well. I would’ve loved to see those 3 move around in 3D, and in a game such as this for a change even for a big. But it’s no Biggie. (Oh darn. Was that a pun???)

Cream is hated by a lot, but she also has as many who like her as Silver, Amy and Espio. Charmy has less fans than Cream. People only hate Cream for 3 very idiotic reasons.
1: She’s got a high pitch voice.
2: She’s “cutesy”
3: She isn’t one of the elite characters.
Similar with Big.
1: He talks dumb.
2: He acts dumb.
3: He’s not an elite character.
These fans act like there shouldn’t be any diversity in Sonic. If a character isn’t the toughest of the tough, they’re “useless” and not entertaining nomatter how nice they are.
Personally, I like Cream and Big. It’s a shame Big didn’t make it in the game.
And from what I recall, Cream’s only mainstream appearance was Sonic Heroes. She appears in Advance 2, 3, Battle, Rush, and Shadow The Hedgehog. All of those were quite some time ago. She’s unlockable in the Riders series and Secret Rings but that’s about it. She hasn’t been shoved down our throats really at all.
And neither has Big. He’s only really appeared in SA1, Heroes and Chronicles. He makes interesting Cameos in SA2, I THINK in Secret Rings and is playable in All-Stars Racing. So he’s also rarely seen.

I’m gonna assume you didn’t notice that he said “Maybe”, insinuating that he wasn’t sure but merely thought of the possibility due to the rumor. (Rumors can be true or false. That’s the thing about rumors. They’re a rumor due to the fact they’re spread around without knowing for sure what the truth of the matter is.)
I always wonderedwhy Big isnt in the game since he’s quite popular woth the staff apparently. He made it as a trophy though…

Isnt he the guy who vices Omega-Xis in Megaman Starforce? As long as big is not playable he is awesome. I never EVER finished his story in SADX

Yeah! I like Cream and Big too, i enjoy the different looking characters like Vector and Jet and Omega. I don’t like characters like Silver and Shadow they are kind of annoying.
Cream is quite well-liked in Japan though. She fits with the Japanese female ideal of being polite, reserved, gentle, cute and youthful (look up the “Christmas cake” phenomenon for more on that), and arguably passive, submissive, and devoted to one person (in this case, Sonic).
Remember that Sonic games come from the same country that have “maid cafés” up the wazoo. Cream fills a very popular personality trait there.
Also, her voice is even higher pitched in Japanese. I don’t know why, but Japan has an obsession for helium voices in female characters. Then again, I’m sure a lot of Japanese people are puzzled as to why westerners are so into aggressive, dominating females with deep voices (Rouge is more popular in the west than in Japan).

All the voice actors and actresses in this game are actually pretty damn good, except for Amy and Shadow, who make me wanna yank my schlong without hesitation.

You only need to play as Cream in:
Sonic Advance 2 (To get Amy)
Sonic Heroes (At the same time as Big)
Sonic Riders (To get Super Sonic/Cameo Characters)
Sonic Free Riders (To get the Last Story)
You only need to play as the Chaotix in:
Sonic Heroes (Just like Big and Cream)
Sonic Rivals 2 (As Espio)
Mario and Sonic (As Vector)
Sonic Free Riders (As Vector/At the same time as Cream)
In other games, they make appearance, cameos, and sometimes becomes playable optional characters. They are not being forced on you in every game, some of the games mention can be enjoyed without having to complete the whole thing (meaning you don’t have to play as them at all). Sega has been pulling back on these characters (which is a shame for the fans of those characters, or for players who just want to play as someone different), and people still complain.
But then again, hating things is the popular thing to do (for the loudest and most annoying fans/haters that is). Its gotten to the point that you can hate things you know nothing about. Yes, Big is too slow. Yes, Cream is too kind. That’s what Sega wanted them to be.
Oh wait! I see now. People hate the Sonic Fanbase because of the way they act. Your hate is now justified. Continue to hate these collections of zero of ones, while other people continue to hate you for your constant bashing and belittling of Sega, who has tried multiple approaches with Sonic to please everyone, who has gotten rid of the side characters, who has given you the gameplay you crave, who has gone out of their way to remove some features the pleased fans liked just so you can have less to complain about, who has-

He would make for a better Vector. Vector does “Kick ass and chew gum bubble”, but he’s never out of gum. Or, he could have been Omega. I’m pretty sure “Balls of Steel” would fit him pretty good. Who am I kidding, just give us a Sonic Heroes like game with Sonic Advance 3 team system with Big as a playable character. You know you want to Sega.
