Three Rings CEO: “Opens a new chapter for the studio”
Today, the CEO of Spiral Knights developer Three Rings, Daniel James, announced the studio was acquired by Sega Holdings USA, which is part of the Sega Sammy Holdings conglomerate.
“Three Rings will continue to operate as a self-contained development studio inside the SEGA family and will continue to be managed by myself and my colleague Tom Schofield,” James said in a statement released today on the Three Rings website. “Our talented crew are excited to be joining SEGA; we all foresee years of great collaborations ahead.”
James assured fans that no development or service interruptions will result from this acquisition.
“Today brings to a close a ten year journey as an independent developer, and opens a new chapter for the studio as a part of the SEGA family,” James said. “Today’s events secure our ability to keep doing what we love; making games and bringing them to life.”

Awesome! Love this game.
Sega acquiring a studio called “Three Rings”? Surely, this can’t be mere coincidence. This is destiny.
Inb4 Sonic is playable in Spiral Knights.
Love the game btw, just never get enough time to play it these days!
Never played Spiral Knights but I heard its a good game, so I’ll give it a try.
Now Sega, release this (and PSO 2) on the Wii U, ’cause my rig isn’t strong enough to run it and I can’t afford a new one (yet can somehow afford a new system).
@QuietGuy92 it’s a great game.
Spiral Knights is almost as addicting as WoW imo.
I love it!
