It Could Be Anything…But…
An active job posting Sega of America has on its website received a fair bit of attention when Segabits, Sonic Stadium and others picked up word of it from Gamerzines over the weekend.
The description is vague enough, complete with corporate-speak one would expect from any job posting. But here’s the line that has caused so many alarm bells to ring in the days since discovery:
Wholly responsible for the project schedule, the budget, and the timely delivery of a high quality product based on a reimagining of one of Sega’s most beloved IP’s.
Sega has a treasure trove of IPs at its disposal, so this could be anything. But given how its flagship property, Sonic the Hedgehog, has been tinkered with so much in recent years, it has led many to wonder if Sonic will undergo yet another of those “reimaginings.” What do you think? Will Sonic soon see another transformation, or do you think Sega is planning something else. Tell us below in the comments.

The fact that they say “one of” makes it sound like it’s not Sonic. They would’ve called Sonic THE most beloved franchise. Not “one of” them.
I’m guessing something like Crazy Taxi or Jet Set/Grind Radio. I would absolutely adore another entry in almost any Sega IP, but those two stand out to me. I REALLY hope it’s Jet Set/Grind Radio, or… if I dared to dream… Skies of Arcadia.
It’s probably going to be NiGHTS, judging from that question SEGA made on their Facebook page about a NiGHTS Port for the consoles in commemoration of NiGHTS’s 15th anniversary. After that, I’d say Jet Set Radio.
It’d be badass if it were something like Billy Hatcher or Alex Kidd.
Alex Kidd would be epic, but… Iunno. Doesn”t make much sense for me for Alex Kidd getting revived, since Sonic replaced him pretty quickly. I think it’ll most likely be NiGHTS. Putting my two cents on it.
*gasp* Unless it’s Shenmue 3– *shot*
Nah, really. That’s also a plausible thing.
As long as it’s not Sonic, I’ll be OK. He’s just getting back into his groove, he doesn’t need any drastic changes right now.
Personally, I’m hoping for either Skies of Arcadia or Panzer Dragoon. I think either one could make it in today’s market if done properly. Skies may need to switch from turn-based RPG to action RPG in order to make it in a Western market, but I’d be OK with that; as for Panzer Dragoon…c’mon. It’s dragons flying around and destroying stuff. It’s begging to be remade for the current generation.

I’m going to place my bets on Alex Kidd. : )
