Crush 40 Albums, Too
If you can’t import the discs or they’re too expensive to do so, the next best thing is now available–legal, digital downloads.
Today, Sega of Japan announced four of the released 20th anniversary edition Sonic soundtracks are available to download on iTunes. The Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic CD soundtracks are available on iTunes stores not just in Japan, but in the UK, the United States, and likely across Europe. It almost appears as if the albums had been available all this time, as the release dates correspond to the physical album’s release, and few have noticed until now.
But that’s not all. A couple albums from Jun Senoue and Crush 40 are available as well. They include the Super Sonic Songs album, and the separate The Works compilation from Senoue himself.
The best part: All the soundtracks are available for just $9.99 per album, or 99 cents per song (or the equivalent base price, depending on where you live.) For many, this will be a wonderful, cheaper alternative to owning a couple discs. It also bodes well for the prospects of a digital release regarding both the upcoming History of Sonic Music album and the eventual release of the Sonic Generations OST. Sega of Japan also says plans are underway to release the tracks on Amazon’s MP3 service, though when we checked, it didn’t appear anything was available just yet.

Right. Legal….
Wait.
10 bucks per album?
BLOODY BOUGHT.
finally crush 40 on itunes
Pretty funny how I just got the Sonic CD 20th Anniversary Soundtrack in the mail yesterday, but now it’s up on iTunes. =D

If they release both of them on iTunes, then I’m buying them! =D
Nice.
Well, I hear that a new song in Super Sonic Songs by Crush 40 is the “Song of Hope”. In case anyone is interested, here is that song.

If it isn’t available in your region (for me, Canada – OF COURSE.), click here and do something about it!
Of course, that’s assuming you use iTunes, which not everyone does. Still waiting on Sega to release this stuff on a better service, but it seems they like the idea of DRM laden music.
@ Viking ZX
That’s one of he main reasons I prefer to buy from Amazon’s MP3 service. Not only are their MP3 downloads DRM free, but they have better prices. Recently bought a couple of albums on Amazon that cost me 7.49 each. If I bought through itunes it would have cost me 9.99 (can’t figure out why people would want to pay more just to have their music locked to a specific device). A Sega example would be Shogun II and Napoleon Total War soundtracks as well as the Best of Sega one all for 8.99 on Amazon while 9.99 on Itunes.
Yes.
Yes.
YES!
^My reaction upon seeing this article.
Cool. I already have most of these songs, though.
@ Milesdx
I actually buy all of my stuff from Amazon Mp3 (have for years now) for the exact same reasons. But even after a very polite and thought out letter to Sega, there is still no sign of Sonic Colors on AmazonMP3, which is a shame because I’d like to actually purchase it.
Come one Sega, there’s a DEMAND here!
alright now my $10 itunes card can stop crying for it to be spent
Do the soundtracks have any updated/remixed/reimagined tracsk, or are they all OST tracks?
@Meta: OST’s I’m pretty sure, but the Sonic CD has two additional remixes.
Theres a mistake with the Sonic Adventure 2 album. For Rouges Egg Quarters level or whatever, its listed as “Lovely Gate 3 …For Radical Highway”
This is cool and all, but you’d think that they’d proofread the names of the tracks. As 20Sonic10 stated, one of Rouge’s level themes for SA2 is labeled as the theme for Radical Highway. There are a lot of other mistakes in the SA2 song names, and I doubt that the other albums are free of similar typos and mistakes.
