Guidance for Sonic CD Release?

It May be Sooner Than You Think

This evening, Spanish website Sonic Paradise relayed an account from Spanish forum El Otro Lado, claiming a more concrete release timetable for the upcoming re-release of Sonic CD.

A forumer there, called Ulmez, apparently has enough inside knowledge to tell the world the re-release could come as early as December 14th. That’s less than a week from now. Ulmez also said further improvements were made to the game, and specifically cited the special stages running at 60FPS, and tweaks made to Stardust Speedway.

Reporters at Sonic Paradise previously heard murmurs of a release timed for December 13th, but while the two dates are fairly close to one another, they may only apply to Europe.

For their part, no one at Sega has given any guidance for a release date except that it would come at the end of this year. However, given the surprise release of a Stardust Speedway theme dashboard on the European Playstation store yesterday, don’t put it past the company to keep their mouths officially shut until the game drops. Take the information for what it is, and also consider if this indeed is coming out by the end of the year, there isn’t much wiggle room left beyond next week. We’ll let you know anything more as it comes in.

That’s something… December 14th is the same day that judging ends for the Sonic CD Fan Art Contest.

In Xbox Live, after yesterday´s update, both Sonic CD and Joe Danger are under last releases on XBLA new games. I suppose that´s happening because they have some kind of internal date for upcoming games, and maybe they already had those ones. Both games have a release date of December.

I wish the game finally comes up next week, I have been wanting to play it since Major Nelson leaked it was coming.

I though the intention was for Sonic CD to be released to play over the chirstmas holidays. So surely the release date is no later than 16th December.

That’s sort of weird, given Xbox Live Arcade games always release on Wednesday. I think PSN is Thursday. Always. Citing a Tuesday or even a Monday seems super weird.

I would love to finish generations if my damn PS3 would quit doing the YLOD shit. Does anyone know if you send your PS3 directly to sony costing an arm and leg obviously…do they actually replace the whole board or whut?

PSN generally updates on Tuesday. It used to be Thursday, but they changed it last year.

If Sonic CD is coming on the same week, Sega should know by now if they have passed certification by Microsoft´s side. I suppose we´ll get the answer next monday as latest, as Major Nelson usually tells which XBLA games get released by that day.

I don’t mind if it’s not released here before Christmas as long as it gets here without dropping any of the features. This is actually one of the few times I’ve been convinced to buy a Microsoft Points card for Xbox Live Marketplace content, and the only other Sonic DLC I want at the moment is the Generations Premium Theme (which hasn’t happened yet), so I guess I’m hoping this’ll come out soon.

Does anyone know if it’ll have fullscreen support?

It has 16:9 ratio, so it should be fullscreen unless you use a 4:3 ratio TV, which I´m not sure if it´s included (I believe it will).

If there´s finally a Premium Theme, I wouldn´t recommend to buy if it´s the same as the Sonic Generations Special Edition, the background is too dull to pay for it
