Another 100K+ Week Among 3 Versions Combined
With another week comes another unofficial estimate of last week’s sales for Sonic Generations via VGChartz.com. In North America, the news again is very good; in fact, we saw numbers at their best since launch week.
VGChartz estimates 56,254 copies of Generations sold last week on XBOX 360; that’s a nearly 60 percent increase versus what was already a strong post-Black Friday week estimate. PS3 unit sales improved as well; the website estimated 42,322 units sold on that system. That’s a week to week increase of more than a third. Even Generations on the Nintendo 3DS, which saw a dangerous dip of sales in week 2, bounced back. Some 20,065 copies of that edition were estimated sold, another week to week increase of more than a third.
If Generations keeps at this pace through the Holidays, the game has a real shot of making a better impact on the December NPD numbers, which are official. For now, we’ll bring you more facts, figures, and estimates through the Holiday season.

Can anyone tell me if Sonic Generations will get on the Canadian PS Store and what the price is? I’m pretty sure the game is up on the UK PS Store for £32…

Wait, wait, wait… This doesn’t add up. Sega assured us that the EU regions were Sonic’s best selling areas, which is why they didn’t give us North Americans the Collector’s Edition. But these sales numbers are, well, pretty damn good. Someone want to explain this obvious discrepancy to me? ;D

What did I tell ya? Sonic has a long tail. (Economically, not physically.)
Don’t count on numbers suddenly skyrocketing though. The way it works is that he gets relatively mediocre sales at any given week or month, but he keeps getting them for a LONG time.
Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors continue to sell. Don’t write off Sonic Generations until at least 2014.
