“We’re working to resolve the situation”
Unfortunately, the relaunch of Sonic CD has not been perfect. Many users of Android mobile phones–perhaps the most discriminating audience out of all platforms seeing the release, as their users have been passed over for many recent Sega ports–are reporting significant issues downloading the game in the first place. Newer phones are also having compatibility trouble with the game. Those issues and others have contributed to plenty of poor ratings for the game on the Android side.
Minutes ago, the Sega Twitter released a statement on the matter.
“We’re aware that people are having trouble downloading Sonic CD for Android, & we’re working to resolve the situation as quickly as we can,” the statement read.
UPDATE: We have this new statement off of Sega’s Twitter regarding the download issues:
Android users: We’re adding another additional server – give us two hours and we should be back in action.
Christian Whitehead, the lead engineer behind the re-release, also attempted to quell concerns.
“The server was being hammered at the time so we’ve had problems accommodating everyone. The bandwidth has been increased so hopefully everything should be working now!” Whitehead said in an earlier statement on the Sonic Retro forums this morning.
When it became clear that didn’t help much, Whitehead added in a later post, “This download issue is our top priority.”
We’ll bring you any more details when they become available.

Oh, good. Other people have been having trouble too? I thought it was my phone’s fault (it’s had some difficulty with other apps in the past). I’ll be sure to try downloading it again later tonight.
What i wanna know is what my droid charged…..i know i didn’t give it any card information….oh well…it’s only $2….hopefully this gets fixed soon. In the meantime…should look up getting microsoft points to get it on the xbox.
^You probably didn’t put any card information on your droid, but the market place uses the gmail account that is attached to it. You probably added a card on gmail to purchase something on a website on your computer some time or another.
I succeeded after one and a half hour of downloading… after 4 download fails!
lol go figure…and here I thought it was my POS router again having wireless issues like it does from time to time. Straight talk android phones are quite wierd at times with downloading stuff too. Well I guess all I can do for now is wait till things get fixed.
I managed to get it working earlier today, but there’s no sound in the game at all other than the opening cutscene. I would much enjoy sound in the game.
*Yawn* Seems like I’m still having problems.
Shawn:
Make sure your phone is set to ring not vibrate or silent.
too bad people couldn’t upload the files needed to megaupload… i’m not sure what goes into installing extra content, but I assume a simple script could fix it… if sega could update sonic cd to detect if the files were there or not…
or just get a better server.
It’s a good thing I got in there urley
