History Made Over the Weekend
On Saturday afternoon, Sonic CD did something many fans have not seen in a very long time: It reached the top of a sales chart.
The game was for a time #1 on the iPad Top Paid apps chart, beating out the re-release of Grand Theft Auto III, Angry Birds, and everything else.
Sonic CD didn’t quite get there on the iPhone or iPod Touch, where at its apex, it stood 3rd in top paid and 6th in top grossing. Still, the numbers are very strong–and keep in mind the game isn’t out for all systems in all markets yet.
Related, we may get our first indication at how well SCD is doing on XBOX360 later this week when the Major Nelson blog releases data. We will update here if and when that happens.

Sonic being awesome again. I almost lost hope. Well, I think I did lose hope for a while. Man it feels great.
Sonic CD made the TOP??!! Wow! This didn’t even happen in the 90s!
It’s like history’s repeating itself (with the re-invention of Sonic CD) But. . . things are better because of what Sega has to work with now. XD That and fans over the years, have recognized Sonic CD as one of the “best” Sonic games of all time.
