Is the Damage Done with One Day at Full Price?
It appears Sega’s had a change of heart, at least when it comes to the mobile re-release of Sonic CD. Following success over the weekend that was nearly squandered when the price hiked to $4.99 on Monday, the $1.99 price point for SCD returned promptly Tuesday morning, and it will stay that way for a while.
“The response has been tremendous, and we love seeing all of you enjoying the game so much,” said community manager Kate Burning on the Sega blog this evening. “We want to make sure that everyone who wanted Sonic CD at the introductory price of $1.99 can purchase it at that price, so we’re extending our sale price for Sonic CD in the iTunes App Store and Android Marketplace through January 24th.”
But on iPhone and iPod Touch at least, the switch may be too little, too late. As of this article’s publication, the SCD price drop has only erected a floor on what would have been an unfortunate free-fall. Currently, the game stands 8th among the Top Paid apps, and 14th among the Top Grossing. By itself, that is respectable, but considering the ranks were 3rd and 6th respectively on Sunday night, it’s a lot of lost momentum the game may never get back. We will see in the coming days and weeks.
It does not appear any price cut is coming to the XBOX 360 or the PSN, where Sonic CD just saw release on domestic systems.

dropped that much for 3 fucking bucks? really?
I don’t understand the desire to ramp up the price so soon after release. Sega made a poor business decision there.
For someone taking a gamble in a market with so many cheap games, 5 bucks is a higher pricepoint, especially for a re-release. Not for a fan, but for a newcomer, they may have plans for other things on the market.
Playing it right now…..
THEY RAPED THE INTRO SONG.
The book isn’t out yet, it’s also coming to America, via pre-order-only (I think). This site will absolutely clue us in when we can start pre-ordering.
Why does it has just went up to 2.99, if they officialy told it would be 1.99 till January?
I still can’t get this to install on my Straight Talk Android Phone. I can get it from the android market but when it comes to installing it…it will download about 80% of the first out of 8 files then quit with an error. Is there a way to configure it to download what it needs onto my SD card? there is enough space for that I believe…like 787mb free space on it I think. Sorry I’m still learning this android OS so I’m a little lost on this when it comes to getting this to install properly.
